Elite 7 install question

I have a 2001 cougar and am curious what is the best install for the elite 7 at the bow in the recessed trolling motor tray. I had to order it so dont have the unit yet to see how it would fit next to the trolling motor pedal using the standard mount it comes with. Or should it be mounted on a ram mount to raise above the deck a little? If this is the best way what ram mount would be suggested? Thanks for any help.

The Elite 7 on my Classic is installed in the recessed tray with the stand mount and it works fine for me.

Depends how good your eyes are and how far you wanna bend over to push buttons. Got a HDS 8 on Ram up front. Fish often in sandals, gettin pretty good using toes to change depth range and stuff.

1hoteyra LMAO. I got them dime store glass thingys after my arms werent long enough to read a book. My mount works fine for my eyes but if the arthritis gets any worse Im gonna have to get a mount thats about waist high so I dont have to bend over.

I just installed mine on a Balzout mount. It would have easily fit in the recessed area but I wanted it raised up. Allison makes a retractable raised pedestal style mount for a front graph, but I am pretty sure it only fits their boats

Thanks for the reply guys! Sounds like it will fit for now in the recess tray but I really like the look of that balzout mount. Did some searching on the web about it and it seems to be highly rated. The discussions about the ram mounts seem to be about loosining up in rough water and having to readjust. Internet pricing seems to be around the 160.00 range.

My 898 is mounted in the tray. It should be same size. And I used mount it came with
