BassCat I think I have read that this boat is a going to be a bridge for fishing and high speeds go fast owners. More power to them. You daredevils. LOL…..What are your thoughts for this boat and 200HP size motors? Are you going to market this boat for 200 size motors too? The conventional wisdom is put the largest motor on a boat for resale. Will this apply toward the Eyra too? Personally, I dont want go any faster then 70-73 mph. However, The moment someone puts a perceived smaller motor on boat rated for 250HP your are going to loose resale or make it more difficutlt to sale with a smaller engine. What are your thoughts with the Eyra and Engines.Flyswatter
Conventional wisdom will sway some on this rig, and the price or affordability will dictate that. If you prefer a 788 and a 778 depth finder, with an 80+ pound troller, then this rig makes sense with a 200 engine. If you press to a 997SI or larger, a 957 on the bow and then go hydraulic plate with a 100 pound troller, then you are going to see 250 engines. It is also capable with a 225 engine which is and will continue to be forgotten territory. BCB
Flyswatter I understand your question totally. I really like the looks of the Erya. I also want the Sho and I am not keen on driving 80. I just want a safe easy driving boat that you do not have to drive to drive it. I rode in the fx 20 last week and it drove like a cadillac all the way up to top speed and you did not have to drive it. We GPS ran at 77 half tanks two people he weighted 195 and I am 250. The boat was full of his gear. It was amazing and fished real flat and stable. I felt comfortable driving this speed in this boat. Now as far as the Erya nobody knows how it will ride and if it will handle smooth in rough water and fish flat but I hope so. I sure love the new looks of this new cat. I would have to take it with a 250 sho because as Bass Cat says I will have all the good electronics. I plan on my next boat being my last. I have been out of a boat going on 3 yrs. Down here in Tulsa area cats are few compared to other brands. Mostly dealer support in this area. Now there are a few dealers opened in the last year or so and I dont know much about them. Mainly Skeeters/ Tritons/ Rangers/ Champions and a few mix of the rest. Boats are so high now it is hard to even justify having one in your garage. But if you love to fish(which I do) I guess you have to spend the money!!
BassCat, I am not sure I under stand the electeronics questions per motor size. Help me understand that thought process better. All of this may be in vain when I get my PIV and re-Powered 200 VmaxSHO. However, I really do like the lines of the Eyra. Are you going to support 225 motors with the Eyra? It maybe a happy medium. With interest.Flyswatter
I guess you are saying if you are going to load it up with goodies and drive the price up you might as well put the 250 on it. If you are going to be conservative with equipment maybe the 200/225 would match well?
That is the jest of it Bama96. BCB
Basscat,Will the 225 VmaxSHO be available for the Eyra? How about a happy medium with 898 in the console.
This is a thousand dollar question. Do I want to spend another thousand dollars, or another thousand dollars, or another thousand dollars. Or a couple $2,500 to $3,000 for a 250 engine. The choice is entirely up to you on how far to carry it. BCB
The extra thousands are nothing for Tom.
Just buy it decked out so you dont have to change models and then change engines (Tom)P.S. Numbers! Also, when the first test drive is available (with a 250), I will be on the way down. Let me know.
