engine sizes

I am restoring a 1976 basscat XXII, and the tag says it is rated for a 115hp. My question is , is a 115 the max hp for it but a johnson 140hp is basicly the same as a 115 except fot rhe carbs. would this be ok or do I need to stay with a 115?

If you have a US Coast Guard tag that states the maximum hp is 115, then that is what I would follow. If you fix up the rig and fish tournaments, it may not be in compliance with the rules. FWIW.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
