Errant gas gauge

Gas gauge will not read correctly; 2013 PumaFTD; both sender units and gauge replaced; replaced connectors on wires; nothing, ongoing over a month; not sure if other gauges interplay and may be having an effect on the readout?? Any help appreciated; tired of chasing this rabbit.

NexSysLink or analog… Beede analog are simple and it should ground out to maximum levels when the 2 wires are joined at the tanks. If they dont then its the gauge, if they do then its likely a sending unit and be sure you have the dash set for right or left.

Sorry, its the Nextsyslink type, main gas gauge with the other gauge with alarm option and digital readouts of temp, rpm, time, gas etc. been to shop x3 no luck. Only gauge not changed is the that one with the alarm option and the scroll pad that i replaced once due to a bent computer ribbon.

The tach drives the system and the conversion process happens there. If the sending unit has impedance (resistance) on an Ohm meter, then it is in th gauges.

I have a 2016 p2, the float on the sending unit was rubbing the side of the tank causing the float to stick. Think it was just mounted to close to the side of the tank.Not sure what a good fix will be? I just pry on mine and it breaks loose when it sticks. Thats on the 10 gallon kicker tank.

The float is a donut on the stem that goes vertical. We doubt it is rubbing the wall as these are not wand Rochester style sending units.

Its almost like the tank is warped, it turns at an angle as is goes down causing it it to touch the side of the tank at the bottom when the float reaches empty.when I fuel up I have to take a small pry bar and pry up on the unit to free the float.Last edited by Jday on September 7th, 2017, 2:25 am, edited 1 time in total.
