We have had several comments after the coverage of ESPN 360 and the opinion seems to be that the on line presence was way better than the previous streaming video in quality and content. We have heard several positives on the ESPN 360 coverage. That being said, the television coverage most were not pleased with. It was a great BassMasters Classic! The crowds were record setting according to ESPN/BASS, and the show area was crowded. Access to anglers in the event was not easy other than those who filtered through the show after the cut. With all the expectations on the coverage and negative comments, it was nice to hear that the on line coverage was better. BCB
We went to the expo and overall we had a good time and can at least say we have gone to one. That said, it was not very organized at least from a parking and getting around stand point. I also didnt like them having the drinking in the expo, particularly when you have so many kids around. It was being sold and one company was even giving away shots of whiskey. As far as coverage, I wonder if BASS could find another network to cover this if ESPN will not provide at least live TV coverage of the final weigh in. All that said, hopefully they will have it in Shreveport again, especially since the turn out was so good and maybe the town will be better prepared.
ESPN allowing BASS to use another network would be the equivalent of BCB building boats under the Skeeter brand name.
ESPN owns BASS and NHRA, as well as other entities. There is no other coverage since ESPN and its parent own these.
I just returned from Shreveport and attended my first Classic. I arrived before the Expo opened on Friday and it was nice. Saturday and Sunday the crowds were large. I could not get in the arena on Saturday for the weighin due to the large attendance. We stood outside the arena on Sunday for 3 hours in order to get inside. The show was spectacular. I found the event was well organized. Took the buses to all events. Looking forward to attending another. Ron
I was not aware ESPN owned BASS. What I dont understand is they have several channels, most of the time nothing is on half off them, then the others have reruns or repeat news that is days old. I would think they could at least take five minutes out of each hour to give a current update. I guess their main concern is collecting membership dues.
Are there rules concerning how the individual anglers sponsors can be displayed. It looks like they showed as little of the anglers sponsors as possible. I think if ESPN doesnt allow the individual anglers to show or plug their sponsors it will be increasingly difficult to attract sponsors to this sport which will make it more and more difficult for the anglers. At the least, the top 10 should have had more TV time for their sponsors. The only sponsors i remember is the z9 and toyota tundra because they could be seen from the chopper. Did I miss something?
There are no limitations, though they do control the shots and cutting of tape.
Was at the Classic Friday and SAT. Loved it Came home Sunday to watch and Could not believe they Had no LIVE coverage. Biggest bass Tourney in the world and no Live coverage..INEXCUSABLE!!!!! Not a fan of ESPNYour Signature …
