I was browsing another forum and came across a recommendation to replace any fuel lines with ethanol resistant Mercury lines. I noticed BCB is selling a replacement line that meets the standards. Anyone know what year or if BCB starting putting the ethanol resistant lines on? I have an 06 Cougar…
You are fine but you can look at the responses on the following post….http://basscatowners.yuku.com/topic/164 … nes?page=1Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
Thanks for the linkI take it from that post I should be ordering the kit from Basscat that includes the bulb and the line to the motor?
was told and be leave i read where the gray line with red writing needs to be replaced basscat has a kit for ya i saw a line that came off a 08 and it was all messed up had his fuel filter replaced and something else cleaned out said after it felt like a new motor
Replace them . — Cheap insurance to avoid a possible problem . — You dont want to run it lean , especially if its a 2 stroke . — Hoss
I have a question regarding these fuel lines. Today, running my boat (96 P2 with a 2.5 Merc) the boat got on plane fine, then after about 3 mins, the motor totally shut down. It immediately restarted, but did the same thing after 4 mins. Later on in the day, it ran fine on plane, no hole shot issues etc.. Then back to shutting completely off while on plane. Could this issue be tied to the grey and red merc fuel line?
Here is good article that was posted over on BBC by Don Weed.http://www.bbcboards.net/mercury-3-lite … first.html
Sonny G, that is exactly what mine did to me before I changed the fuel lines. Change em out. Its time anyway and its cheap insurance as BIG CATTER said.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
Man, the ethanol bug got me. But I as successful enough to catch it before it really costed me. Hell! It felt like somebody was holding my boat back. Got it all straight now I change out all fuel lines bulb with the up to date fuel system lines.
Ok Now I have a real issue and could use some help before I go to a dealer….. My 96 cat 200 Merc EFI, starts and idles no problem. It gets on plane no problem. After running a few minutes, it just shuts down. Almost like I pulled the kill switch. It starts right back up. I mean immediately. I have run it 4, 5 10 mins with no issue. But then it just shuts down. Is there a sensor or something causing this? If I can get some help, Id love it before I take it to the dealer. The fuel lines have been replaced. Last week, I noticed the vacuum line to the fuel pressure sensor had a crack in it, so I replaced that. Any Ideas? I would love the input
Engine lines from the valve are all you should or could have an issue with. The oat lines hav been ethanol resistant A1 or A2 for over 20 years.
If you have grey w/ orange writing – get it off of there. You want the grey w/ blue writing. My 08 Sabre had the bad lines and crumbled inside when I replaced them two years ago. Change the fuel filter while youre at it.
Ill be doing this over the winter months as well. 04 Sabre.13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods
