Storage preferences, length of front deck fishing platform, and 2-3 mph on top end are only differences to me.C.O.D. Jr. III
Eyra looks better with the different lines, different color options.Eyra faster by a couple mph on the averageEyra shorterPuma FTD more room in the console areaPuma FTD sit higher in the seatsPuma FTD better ride in bigger waterPuma FTD more storage compartmentsIf I had the decision to make I would base it on my needs vs. what someone else thought. I had the option of going either way and I chose the Puma FTD layout over the looks of the Eyra. The layout of the Eyra are is OK, just like the Puma FTD layout a little better. I cant see over the windshield in the Eyra due to the lower seating and a taller guy should prefer the FTD over the Eyra as well. Good luck with your decision!
Personally id go with the Puma Premium, especially if fishing team trails or co angler events the rear storage is unmatched between the premium and the FTD or Eyra and sets up perfect for the coangelrs entire tackle bag behind the drivers seat. But if set on those two models, id have to go with the FTD. Ive got a 2011 puma premium your more then willing to go out in if you want to meet me on the delaware river.Last edited by JSLAW on August 8th, 2011, 2:40 am, edited 1 time in total.
The Puma FTD is the ultimate overall tournament boat. The Eyra is a great tournament boat with a few tweaks, killer looks and a wee tad shorter and the seating is more cokpit style, as pointed out.You cant really go wrong with either, though we would visit with your local dealership and take it from there.
Thanks for the feedback. Think I will go with the Puma.
JSLAW if you wouldnt mind, Id love to try out the delaware and see the puma in action. Just let me know and we can set something up. Thanks in advance.
I presently have an 08 Puma FTD and am considering going to the 2012 Eyra. The comment by Phil about the inability to see over the console of the Eyra has me spooked. Since Im only 510″, is this going to work for me? The thought of 80 MPH without the ability to see where Im going——–!!!!! No dealer close by.
PA has been in both. I have not.I would expect youd be “fine” in either. Just a question of where you like to drive one.Me personally I dont like how high skeeters run when you really run one- its safe but too high for me.I expect thats what pa is getting at.C.O.D. Jr. III
Spbait, I have driven Flyswatters Eyra and had no problem seeing over the windshield. Im also 5 10″. Either boat will be great just pick what fits you best.
Need help deciding between Eyra or Puma FTD. There are no dealers within 4 hours of my location in PA. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Im sure youre going to get a million opinions and tons of info on this one. Ill give some basic info and Im sure youll get a ton more after that.1) Both awesome boats with similiar though not exactly the same capabilities2) Puma 2 inches longer3) Eyra with different hull design – maybe more nimble “sports car” like feel, with maybe a slight compromise on rough water performance (this is debatable depending on who you talk to, and if they own an Eyra or a Puma)4) About the same price when loaded out5) Eyra has slightly shorter front deck and different front deck layout. Eyra has longitudinal boxes that some just love and others dont. Puma has deeper boxes and a time proven tournament layout. Rear decks are nearly the same including triangular livewells on both. Rear compartment access slightly better on Eyra due to two large removable lids.6) Seating is lower cockpit style in the Eyra, higher in the Puma.7) Both have underseat storage All things even, speed slightly better in Eyra. This is a fairly minimal difference. 9) Eyra with sculpted body lines and more modern styling, though as with all things its just what you like. Both are gorgeous boats. 10) Color patterns a bit different on each boatIm sure others will have much, much more to add.
Thank you for the reply man, it gave me a very good general idea.
I just went through this and the Puma FTD is as close to a perfect boat as I have ever seen. I chose it over the Eyra.
And I chose the Eyra….so there you have it. Dont think your friend could go wrong with either.
The Eyra also has a few more bling items suc as telescoping boarding ladder, pop-up mooring cleats, capability of moving TM pedal back some, second front seat pedestal hole, a small lockable storage bin at passenger side, and, as k-pink says a samich compartment in the cooler.
