Looking for some opinions or hands-on experience with prop for Eyra/250 Pro XS combo. No poles, 4 Grp 31 batteries and a rather heavy load (high school bass fishing so me and two kids much larger than me with a full load of tackle, fuel).Currently running stock 26p Fury 3 and with a light to moderate load this has pretty good holeshot and will do 79+ on top end even with full tanks and livewells; however, add the two kids and the extra tackle and holeshot is terrible and abut 72-73 on top end. Feel certain a 4 blade prop will help the holeshot and ability to carry the load better at midrange speeds but am uncertain if I should consider the Bravo 1 XS or the Fury 4 and what pitch would be most appropriate. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or first-hand experience on how to make this decision. /Chuck
I was also curious about how a trophy 4 blade would work on an Eyra, has anyone tried that?
Im running a Fury 4 26p on a 2017 Eyra, dual power poles, 4 batteries. Boat came with a Fury 3 25p. Where are you located? Hole shot is okay until full fuel and live wells then its really slow. Id like to try a Fury 4 25p in the summer here in Texas, might be a better choice. The big drop off for me in hole shot comes when we fill up the live wells. But, with full fuel and live wells Im not sure any prop will make it good. Really like the Fury 4 though.Last edited by C130 on April 13th, 2017, 12:03 pm, edited 1 time in total.
With a good top end and hole shot while normally loaded, I would drop down to a 4 Fury 25. Or 3 Fury 25. Regardless of your Prop, I would drop down a pitch when your that heavy.
Thanks for the input. Im located in central Alabama. I agree the difference with full livewells versus empty livewells makes a huge difference with the Fury 3 26p so its interesting to know that youre having the same issue with the Fury 4. I think my primary issue is trying to figure out if the Bravo 1 XS do a better job than the Fury 4 on the holeshot with a full load. I also think the move down to a 25p is likely a good idea but again, which of the two props and does the pitch needs differ between the two? May just require some buying and selling props to get the right one.
If you are going to the OI i have a fury 4 25p you could try and a fury 3 25p worked by Ronnie Gilbert I will be up Monday evening
Buying and selling props till you get the right one could take you and lot of money and a long time , probably both. Take what you have and tune it for your boat. You can drop down to a 25 for the hotter months , but it comes to the same thing . All props out the box need some kind of tuning. A boater should take his prop and tune it for his setup , his weight he normally carries, where he fishes and many other things. Your fury 4 will be your better selection on the four blades , but it comes to the same thing , buy it , run it get some numbers off of your test and have it tuned for your application.
I just fished a High school tournament with myself and 2 anglers in the boat. All of my tackle and rods were still in there as well as their tackle, rods, both ice chests full of drinks and ice. I was running my 25″ Fury 3 blade worked by Mr. Ronnie Gilbert. The boat ran 76.5 tournament morning and 76 on the way back in with a very acceptable hole shot even with full wells. If you have a hydraulic plate it makes a huge difference to raise the motor up when taking off and lowering it as you begin to get on plane. Also it makes a difference to let someone like Mr. Ronnie work his magic on the prop so you can have the best of both worlds. I need to send mine back to him now to get it back to running correctly. The Fury 3 25″ has been a very good year round prop for me and I also run a 24″ Fury in the middle of the summer when Im fishing really shallow areas and need to get up in a hurry. Thanks for the input guys. Sounds like a 25 worked by Mr. Gilbert work the prop might be my best bet. I can get 72 with 3 on board and tournament load but nowhere near 76 so that may be my best route.
