Does anyone know the approx speed breakdowns for the Eyra model in 200 225 and 250 trim? Maybe even loaded vs light loads?
In summary of all eyra data it looks to me like this-200- Itll do 75.? light on a good day. Loaded 71-72250- 85 light(gearcase limits) 78 loaded to the gills in Kevin Shorts eval.To me:An eyra with a 200 is 3mph faster than the 2004 p4 with a 200HO I owned. An eyra with a 250 is 3 mph faster than my 09 puma ftd with a 250HO.Still gotta catch fish though!C.O.D. I have a BassCat Eyra with 200 SHO. Here are the following numbers. Single Console and later adding a second console in optimum WOT conditions. Best prop for ME is the Mercury Fury 25p Prop. I have also tested the Yamaha 25T1 ventless prop and Mercury 25p Tempest Plus prop too.1. Full Tackle load, 16 tackle boxes, 15-20 lbs of plastics, 25-30 gallons of gas, empty livewells, with 25p Fury Prop, recorded 75.2 with Current 74.5 no current in low 70 degree temps. Typical runs will be in the 73 plus mph range.2. Same as above, Dual console, 50° temps, 74 mph recorded on the GPS. Typical mph range will be 72 plus mph range.3. Full tournament load, full gas tanks, two people (222lbs and 280lbs), heavy minn kota FortrexTM, 50° temps, 69.5 on the GPS. Cooler temps critical.4. Same as item 3 with addition of full livewells, 15 plus lbs of fish, 68.5 mph on the GPS.Eyras motor bridge to incredibly faster numbers with a 250 class motor.I have info with a 250 Eyra (from reliable source) going past faster then any factory BassCat Puma/Cougar by a significant number. However, this requires lots of experience setting up a boat, extreme driving skills and is not easy to achieve. This was done in optimum conditions. I know the numbers but feel its not my place to share. To say the least the Eyra is a bridge boat that takes 200 HP motors and makes them run faster with the Eyras hull similar to competing 225 and 250 Boat OEMs. Additionally with a 250HP motor bridges past any traditional Bass Boat OEM to numbers not seen in a 1600-1700lb boat. Going forward these comments are to express the dyanmic features of the Eyras hull and not for motor wars or bragging. If you want more specifics on motors you can contact BassCat. I dont care what motor it is. What has me stoked is how fast a freaking 1675 hull can go. Not sure what BassCat has done but it is special and unique to BassCat boats.Last edited by Flyswatter on November 30th, 2010, 6:53 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Also, not a light load at all. Full tournament tackle load by my standards. 16 plus 3700 boxes, 15-20 lbs of plastics, clothing, 13 rods and reels, and 25 plus gallons of gas.
Thats not a correction.Thats light for a fisherman.Water in the livewells is why we buy boats right? I dont fish tournaments with half a tank of gas and a single fisherman and that load of tackle.75.?- meant 75.(insert number here)The plain fact of the matter is that my p4 with a 200HO and similar load ran 73 gps.Last edited by clownshoes on November 30th, 2010, 7:52 pm, edited 1 time in total.C.O.D. I respectfully disagree being a light load for a fisherman. Might be for an Elite Pro but for weekender I dont think so. Ivan light is a light load. Maybe your confusing overload with tackle load.
ScissmanThere are going to be a wide range of speed on this one due to the design of the hull. I drove the very first one and it would do around 76-77 with a 225 Pro XS. Im hearing of a speed with a 250 Pro XS this past weekend at 83+ with two individuals. Therefore, speeds will range anywhere between low 70s with a 200 to mid – upper 70s with a 225 and low to mid 80s with a 250 regardless of how you load it. There will be very few that will do mid 80s plus due to gear case design, but it is likely achieveable though at some risk.
scisman411, The Eyra really will carry a load solid into the 70s with limited drop and perhaps 80 with a 250. The 225 is not really a big option as the price tag closes in the middle and other than your preference there is no reason to buy a 225 and BCB does not stock 225 engines. They sell them on request. The 200 is an upper 60s loaded out rig, and the 250 is the other end at 70 MPH. Both will pop 70+ and 80+ with the right situations loads and drivers. Though the limit is in your hands and more the abilities of the drivers on this. Right now the Eyra is doing exactly what we intended it for. It was not ever presented to replace the other 20 models which are big bodies for tournament anglers. It was a bridge boat for the 200 with a 20 hull and a fun go cart type handling with a 250. Also with the ability to press the envelope more if someone wanted to play. There are fuel mileage comparisons on this site for the 250 Mercury and we do not think that a 200 Mercury was done. Top end MPG will not change much, though mid range with a 200 will and there is a sequential gain there. BCB
BassCat is being very modest too with top end speeds for 250 Engines.
What is really great about BCB is the wide assortment of boat styles and powertrains for all types. The PIV, 200 rated and solid as a rock, yet performs great and wont get stupid. The Classic/PII which is a 200 hp rated rocket, which will embarass many larger powered rigs. The 204″ line(Cougar, Pumas) that will perform great with a 225, yet even better with the 250s. The Eyra,,,,,a crossover that can do it all, and a bit more fun !The Jaguar, a beast for big water. The Sabre, which is one of if not the best running 18 boat on the water. And now BCB is working on a 17.5 footer, and also a Bobcat ! Just keep in mind guys that not all buyers are capable of driving a hp hull, or need to be.Something for everyone, and the best service backing it up,,,,,,,,,,Its not all about speed, and at the upper level of performance driver input and experience is the winner, every time. But then,,,, you still have to catch the fish !
