Has anyone sold a newer model Sabre lately? I have a 2015 that is loaded and has HB 999 and 859 graphs.Mercury Platinum waranty until 2020. I have it on the for sale page but not getting many serious offers. Opinions on price? Please change my user name to Firecat
Either you have it priced too high, dont have it listed in multiple locations, bad location, or it is downright ugly. Otherwise, a Sabre is a pretty easy sell since there are limited numbers out there for sale. Figure out which of the 4 questions above fits and you can correct and get it gone. Good luck moving!
From what I just paid for an 08 I dont think youre priced way off, just a litt more than I was willing to pay. I did contact you about your boat and was very interested but I ended up buying the 08 that was listed here. Im surprised you havent sold it yet. Good luck, hope you find the right buyer. The warranty is a definite plus on your boat.
The used Sabre market is tedious. You either have a newer model and find someone willing to buy it for cash, or you have a hard time selling it for financing reasons. A lot of Sabre owners are used to a more aged boat and they work there way into a rig at a moderately used price, often in the 8 to 15 year range on the first turn. The other segment of Sabre owners has them as brand new and they often finance them as new. Used financing can be a bear for those we marginal credit and buyers still building credit history. That description can be a defining of the Sabre market. Sabres are hard to find used with a few years on them. A 2015 model is almost new and those owners often just would rather buy new, most often for a reason mentioned above.
Remember if you are even remotely near the price of a new boat, even if yours is loaded, most would rather spend a few thousand more and purchase a new boat with the colors the want, rather than settle. It depends on a lot of factors. I dont see an issue getting financed for used boat that is so new. Make sure and advertise it locally also.I put my 98 Jag on here for sale. I received calls all the way from Mexico. But I also put it for sale in The Louisiana Sportsman classifieds. Sold it in two days. So make sure and advertise locally also.
Thanks for the replys. I wouldnt think it would be hard to get a 2015 financed. Please change my user name to Firecat
it is not hard, it has to do with the long term financing options on used boats in this range. Those with credit can afford new and they prefer new, those will lower cash flow require long term financing and only those with better credit can achieve that in used boat situations. State Farm Bank has been a good option for some
I understand that BCB. I thought a 5000 savings would be attractive. No sales tax and 5 year warranty on motor not to mention a major upgrade in electronics. Please change my user name to Firecat
I have a 14 model and considered selling it a few months back as well. The low retail for your boat is $26,555 without any upgrades except for the trailer, $30,500 is average value. A lot of those upgrades on NADA arent really upgrades anyway. Live wells, fuel injection, stainless prop, etc. are pretty much standard. Your graphs are worth something, and so is that warranty, but it may not be what the buyer is looking for. Especially graph wise…kind of hard to complain about a warranty extension though. I dont know about other banks, but my credit union will loan 85% of the average value on a used boat up to 3 years old. 80% 3-5 years, and lower the further out. $26,000 is what I personally would be able to do without adding money out of pocket. Other banks may be different but thats the way my credit union is. They only allow upgrades on certain things as well. I dont remember which ones would count towards the value but I know it wasnt many they asked about.Sales tax is an after thought for some buyers Im sure, and since the Sabre is geared more towards first time boat buyers, Id say more often this is the case with this boat especially. This may be the problem youre running into, maybe not.Purchased new 5/4/15Bass Cat Sabre Vision EliteMercury Pro XS 150MotorGuide 75lb Tour EditionHumminbird – Stock (will be changing soon I hope)
Are there states where you dont have to pay sales tax on used boats? In Texas Im going to have to pay tax on everything including the trailer. Plus, the trailer has to be registered and tags are required along with an annual state inspection of the trailer over a certain weight. Id like to register my 5th wheel and boat in Tennessee. Just my personal opinion but I was willing to pay around $25000-$26000 on the 15 Sabre otherwise I was either going to buy new or an older boat. Just my perspective on a boat that new.
