There is not much better in life than spending time on the water with your child. My daughter has been fishing tournaments with me for the last few years and has become quite the fisherwoman! Last Saturday we competed in Kids First tournament on Pickwick where she put a 4.3 pounder in the boat for her first Mojo rig fish then quickly followed that up with her personal best with a 4.67 pound largemouth on a spinnerbait. At least 3 of the 5 fish that won us 1st place and the tournament big bass were caught by her.Another father/daughter team won 3rd place which was pretty awesome, to make things even better they were fishing out of a Bass Cat as well! My daughter fishes night tournaments with me throughout the summer. She is already asking when they start. Last year, she and I had a pretty good summer. She had came in second in one tournament, winning big bass with a over 5 pounder. Great to see dads not afraid to show the girls the ropes …

Bamma – thanks for the comments.BR – you must have raised him right if he is taking you fishing now!Fire – It is great that your daughter shows that much interest in fishing. I have always believed that if you are spending time with your kids you wont have to wonder where they are, who they are with, or what they are up to! My daughter and I started fishing tournaments a few years ago, our time spent driving to and from the lake and on the water is priceless. I have two sons that are much younger than she and our fishing time allows us to catch up and talk uninterrupted.

She and I had just started together last year. She is 8 now and looking to learn more and more. She is a tropper to be able to hang out that late at night with me. The smile on her face when she carries the weight bag to the scales is priceless. My 6 year old daughter has been asking to get staretd as well. I told them both to be patient and they could posibly be team partners when they get older.
