Topic: Fathers day gift????

My lovely bride told me that I could order the carpeted step box to replace the center seat that is currently in my Sabre for Fathers day. I would like opinions about the step box or if it would be wise to leave the center fold down seat in the boat. Right now I am seeing damage to the center seat while folded and being stepped on. I also on occasions take one or two of my girls fishing so the seat comes in handy and I do not think that they can safely sit on the carpeted step. I am also looking at the holes that will be left by the seat. Will the box cover the holes after removing the back of the fold down seat? Who has one and what are you opinions. I added the step box on my Classic this past winter during the Christmas sale. I love it. I covered the holes in the fiberglass using Marine Tex. Very easy to install. The extra storage is nice for small items like sunglasses, keys and wallet storage while fishing, camera, etc. The cup holders are very useful but a little wide to hold a coffee cup, water bottle, or soda can snug while running at high speed so I added some foam around the inside walls which is held in place with silicone. The box is more useful to me than the seat. When an extra seat is needed during high speed runs I place the fold down seat (without using the post) in the center hole and have the passenger face toward the rear of the boat. Ron
