This weeks featured dealer is Pops Marine in Toano, Virginia. They are a really great servicing Bass Cat dealership. Pops has been a Bass Cat dealer going back to 1995 and has consistently been a Top 5 or 10 dealer of Bass Cat many times over those years. They run a nice small first class operation. To quote Richard is to say “we sell 10 pounds of stuff out of a 5 pound bag”. And we agree! Their focal market is bass boats with both Bass Cat and in more recent years they replaced Pro Craft with Triton. They also sell aluminum, though they are not a be all things to everyone dealership. They do not handle center consoles and runabouts, other than special orders for present customers. They simply prefer to stay in the fishing niche. Their location is in Toano, VA, which is South East of Richmond, right next to the James River and bordering colonial historic Williamsburg. There is a tremendous amount of history there around them for a family day trip. The ramp for testing is but a couple of miles away and testing is done right there on the James River. Wayne Beverly is the owner of Pops Marine and Richard Addy has been the sales manager going way back. Both have ample experience in the marine business. In the office they have Bee and Lavonne handling the important duties and really running the business. You will get Bee answering the phone most days, and on Friday LaVonne spells here some. In the past you would look for them at the Bassarama and Timmonium Sport Shows. This year they will not be participating in many shows, but, would like the opportunity to visit with you in their showroom. Most anglers out east are very familiar with Richard and his partner (Kelly) are avid tournament anglers. They actually won a Sabre and 150 EFI Mercury this year in the Castaways Championship there in Virginia. Castaways is also sponsored by Bass Cat. They are a Team to be recognized through summer into fall, when the fishing comes to their styles. They will take your money… Smiling as they do it. Pops Marine Service duties are handled by Charles Propst and John Shaw. Charles has been there a number of years and John is right in Waynes system. They do a good job not only on serivce, though also on their parts sales as they buoy the sales and service with a qualified Parts Department headed by Wayne himself. Of course it has to be either he or Richard in this small shop. Charles can help also on parts, though he and John stay Very Busy! Overall this is a small shop with a Family attitude that set a bar on the Bass Cat service tradition. And we are proud to have had them as a Bass Cat Dealer for many years!
