Fiberglass damage, fixed with pictures.

I know a little about boats and nothing about fiberglass work. I found this after the last tournament we fished. I am quiet sure it is from a tree given the place we were fishing. Obviously there are no BassCat dealers near by or I would go there. Toss me some thoughts so I know what I should be thinking. A good body shop or marine repair shop will be able to get that fixed up and the boat will be good to go. They can get all the needed information about materials from BCB.

Thats a simple gel only repair and its not likely wood caused it. More likely there could have been iron or engine parts in the wood and these caused that vertical corner shear.

I dont think theres any way a piece of wood caused that, but stranger things have happened, I suppose. I have seen several stumps in my area with a piece of re-bar driven into the top of the stump. I guess they were marking the stump for some reason.At any rate, Id get it fixed by someone who does it for a living, particularly in that location.

I think BCB is saying that most people wouldnt fix something like that and when they sold that boat the new owner would probably not see that damage right away or maybe ever. I had the exact same thing happen on my last Cat and like you I wanted it fixed. I had a local guy fix that and buff out any scratches on the entire boat including a scratch on the boot for $500.

I kept my previous Cat up to shape. Kept it clean and waxed out of the weather unless fishing I had a top glass man fix a couple of small booboos I had like the above as they happened. Come time to sell and buy a new Cat it sold in less than 24 hours. The three guys looking at it could not believe it was almost 7 years old at the time. It brought top dollar too. Just my thoughts on taking care of your stuff. Thanks too BCB.

Been looking for a good glass guy?
