Gustav did a number on us for sure. No power for a week but at least no damage to my home or “BassCat”. Took a full week to just clean up the yard because of the trees, limbs, leaves etc. I couldnt even tell that I had a driveway because of the debris. I watched two trees topple in my neighbors yard. They just missed his house. Some others were not so lucky. We are thinking that massive fish kills will be taking place shortly just like when “Andrew” came through the same location in 92. That would be really bad so we are keeping our fingers crossed that the slight easterly path of the eye had spared the “Atchafalaya Basin” and Lake Verrett. Just got power back last night so I missed a week of threads that I will have to catch up on. Anyway, carry on……I just wanted to check back in and get back to normal for a change.Everyone should believe in something. I believe Ill just go fishing!
Glad you are ok and escaped with minor damage. Look out for IKE! Hope it spares you guys this time, one is enough.
Next one needs to go in around Hattiesburg, MS.
JEH, Im with you buddy. Just got my power back last night and my Cable just returned to service today. It was a pretty rough storm considering it was only a Cat 2. I also made out well. No damage to the house other than a couple pieces of soffit and my fence took a beating. My big pecan tree held up o.k. and I lost one of my japanese elms. Will be hard at it for the next week or so trying to get the Plant back running so all of these fine folks can have some gasonline to burn. It looks like IKE is headed to Texas. I wish everyone there the best and hope it doesnt build up too much speed before landfall. We had local winds clocked at 105 and I can assure you that is all I would want to face. The other important thing I would like to mention is that our local and state government did a stellar job in coordinating the recovery efforts and I feel as though they did all they could to take care of those in need. My hats off to them. Much better than the Katrina efforts. Chris Coupel Paulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.

Shap, glad you made it through alright. Im thrilled that Ike is “not coming this way”. To others, thanks for the kind words. Today a friend of mine said that he lives on the banks of Colyell Bay and that there are dead fish floating everywhere including lots of 3 lb. Bass, bream, catfish, goo, etc. That is sad but it is nature in action. Just when the area around here is starting to rebound from Katrina, and now we get hit again. Fishing will be good again in another three years now that Ike looks like it is “going the other way”. Guess what though…….I still have wood on my windows and it will stay there until Ike makes landfall. Everyone should believe in something. I believe Ill just go fishing!
Yep, My boards are staying as well until Ike makes landfall. Im not taking any chances in case this thing turns and comes our way. The fish kill is very, very widespread. From the entire maurepas area including, Blind, Amite, TIckfaw rivers, Ruddok, and Manchac. To The Des allemands area, to the Basin it is pretty ugly. I think the marsh areas will recover fairly quickly ( they always do) The Basin will probably take a few years to rebound due to the amount of dead water. In the mean time I will spend some time chasing some big fish in little lakes of Central La. and Mississippi. That will give me a chance to catch a Big One and the fisheries a chance to rebound here. Dont count out the Delacroix, Carnarvaern area. It was on fire just a year after Katrina and it took A 20 foot storm surge for that one. It should be o.k. in just a couple of months. How yall doing at the plant. We are in the process of trying to get the first of our units back up right now. All should be up and running by this time next week if we dont run into any trouble. Im going on vacation starting monday though so I wish them good luck!! Chris Coupel Paulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.

Since its a public forum, lets just say “it will be a while before we are making product”. No problems, just careful methodical safe startup.Everyone should believe in something.
