I posted about a week ago my desire for a good location on a cougar to install my new charger. Couldnt figure out if there was a way to post a followup with photos to share in that post. Well here it is. I decided to mount it to the underside of one my rear panel doors. I have done this same thing on another boat and it has worked for many years perfectly. This turned out to be very fast, no visible wholes and meets nearly every criteria I required perfectly. Steps:1. remove the compartment light cut wires and very carefully lift the insulator padding to extract the wiring. ( Will relocate the light soon) 2. The unit will take advantage of the compartment mounting screws to hold one lip of the charger in place.. ( such a bonus)3. I fabricated a small bracket from crap in the garage, heavy enough and wide enough to put 3, #10 x 3/4″ lag screws in. I put no screw holes in the charger, didnt want to risk warranty issues. 4. the bracket has some small rectangular (1/4″ rubber on one side stainless with threads on the other) this clamps the charger against the compartment lid. I cant move it and tried. 5. Drop the charging connection to each of the 4 batteries. and feed the power connection out the same whole as the rest of cables going to the motor. Entire install took about 2 hours, with about 1 of those hours spent finding the bracket and pieces. Last edited by shastss on February 12th, 2015, 1:55 am, edited 2 times in total.
