Fire extinguisher

Where is the best place to mount the fire extinguisher on a Margay?

I mounted mine in the small tray in the rear compartment. I also had room for a few tools and jumper cables. I figured most fires would happen in the stern anyway so it is right there when I open the back hatch.

I have mine in the front drivers side rod box. Once, years ago in an old ProCraft, I had a shorted battery with lots of sparks and smoke involved that almost turned into a fire. Bilge area. Extinguisher was stored in a compartment next to all the action. Made it a little hard to get to. Never run toward a fire without a fire extinguisher in hand.

You open that back compartment where the fire is and the oxygen is going to cause that fire to enlarge. No way would I keep mine in the back. Also from time to time you need to shake it up or hit with rubber mallet so the dry chemical does not get caked up. Also need to just replace them when they get past their date. Better safe than sorry

I keep mine in the storage area under the drivers seat.

I mounted mine under the console, I dont want to have to open compartments if something is burning. I want it in easy reach, I also dont have a hot foot to deal with.

Let the boat burn baby, burn!!! Boat catches on fire, I am not going to get in its way. That is why we have replacement cost insurance. Game warden once commented on time to replace the unit because the gauge was showing a little low. I flat out told him its only in the boat because it has to be. Boat catches fire, its going to burn and sink to the bottom. He didnt like that answer. Reality, its a great thing.
