Depends on how long since you used it>? Though put a cotton t shirt around the filter as it will clog up FAST>!

Id try it but thats not sayin much. Put a sock over the outgoing side and hope for the best!

Make sure the ash is cooled down if you use anything other than a vac that is design for fire places.I have a pellet stove and i have a vac that is design to be use on fire places and area like you are dealing with.the vac also has 2 special filters on it to filter the ash, and keep it from coming back into the room.

When I had my chimney cleaned they used a shop vac but they had enough hose for the vac to sit outside and the joints on the hoses were taped. I use a metal bucket and shovel.
