Well I knew it wouldnt take long to put a scratch or a ding on her. Noticed it last night when I was wiping her down. Just under the rub rail by the passenger seat, about half the size of a #2 pencil eraser, the gelcoat has been knocked off. Small chip, but do not want it to spread over time…I thought about mixing up some clear 5min epoxy and dabbing a little in the hole. Think that would work? Or is there something better to keep it from getting worse over time?I guess last friday when I bumped the dock at the ramp there must have been something sticking out on the side. 13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods
I lightly drifted into the corner of a concrete retaining wall when my boat was a few months old, I dabbed some Seal-All into the fingernail-sized gouge to hold it. It worked well and I am about to get that and a few other noticeable scars fixed. This gouge was about 1/8 to 3/16″ deep.
Mine had a bad day sunday,,,,,, several current misreads, and chip/scratches. I guess a trip to Midway is in order for this winter ! Hope Garry needs some work !

I would order some gel from bcb, order some liquid styrene, and goto Walmart and get some mekp/hardener. Tape out the scratch perfectly. Take about 3 cc of gel into a syringe, take about 3cc of styrene liquid and put gel into styrene to dilute it. Then mix 12 drops of mekp with that 6cc and with a toothpick Id apply the mix and cover with wax paper that will need to be taped down. Let it sit 4-6hrs and rub like hell with either magic eraser or like some wet 1200. Then clean, then wax. Wont look as good as Garry by any stretch but better than most. Gel from bcb gotta be diluted to work right on small jobs. Some folks use acetone as well to dilute.C.O.D. Jr. III
D/B , by the looks of Garrys place you better get your reservation in now . — He STAYS busy , but there is a good reason for that now isnt there . — Hoss
Gel prolly $10. Styene prolly $5. Mekp is about $2. Tape $1.00. Wax paper steal from wife. Magic eraser steal from wife. Not expensive. Labor is the cost when a pro does it.No sense in doing stuff half like this and it wont be the last time you do it if you are there to fish and get where the fish are. I got more than a few scars and halfway repairs look bad and this looks tolerable. Had a little “rub” in with a bridge piling last year myself.Last edited by clownshoes on September 10th, 2013, 8:26 pm, edited 2 times in total.C.O.D. Jr. III
