I picked up my new P2 a couple of days ago and managed to get her in the water today for some break-in time. What a boat! Spent the first couple of hours just riding the lake. Did the trimmed down 4000-5400 rpm as recommended by Mercury for an estimated 80 miles on 22 gallons of fuel. Decided to refuel just in case since the fuel gauge isnt working. Not bad mileage for plowing through the water trimmed down. For those of you about to break in a motor you will not get to 5400 rpm with the motor trimmed all the way down. The manual does not explain that but just says keep it trimmed down or at neutral trim. About 4500 is the top until you trim up a little. I made it to 5200 but the water was too rough to get beyond that. Besides I was already at 67 at 5200. That was gps. Took a break for a couple hours, caught a couple of fish and rode/plowed some more. Finally got my 4 hours in and saw more of Dale Hollow than ever before. Going back tomorrow for a normal fishing day. To to say Im impressed with this boat would be a huge understatement. Its comfortable, fishes good, quick to get on plane, fast and handles great. I think Im going to really enjoy this! Now if my fuel gauge would start working everything would be just right.
