First dings on the 2008 Cougar need Gel coat advice and boat lifting instructions.

I guess I cant complain owning the boat this long before I do some dings. I am a 34 year experienced body man but almost zero gel coat experience. I am ordering the color from Basscat but if anyone has a good link to the how to of gel coat repair I would be very thankful. Also looking for a step by step best way to lift boat off trailer for repair and further inspection to be sure that is where all damage is located as shown in photos. Thanks in advance I appreciate the help. Mark

A boat shop will life by the two rear tie-down rings plus the bow eye. You can just raise it off of the trailer far enough to work lying on a creeper if you prefer. I have repaired the bottom of a couple of boats in my basement. Jacked them off the trailer with a floor jack and a piece of 2×6 + some carpet.

Since your a body man then you’ve got a 2 ton Lincoln floor jack. Block the jack to the pad, lift it and block it up on the bunks.

I was thinking of pulling the trailer out a few feet to inspect that area. Can the front be supported at the bottom of the boat while this is done?
