Thought I might brag a little about some of our mid-western fisheries. Ok Brian and Bill(shodackman/VT bass) these may not be Champlain quality but not bad for first trip to South Dakota. Took my die hard Champion buddy with me. Not sure who caught the most fish, but he caught the two largest……isnt he spoiled, caught the biggest and got to do this in a Bass Cat!!!!!!! This is primarily at Roy Lake, but also tried a couple of nearby lakes also. We caught 65 to 70 bass in 4 1/2 days with the four largest weighing 4-2, 4-2, 4-7, and largest 4lb 9oz. Let me bore you with some pics: Boat cleaned up—-hoping not to hit any rocks!!!!!!!!First fish…of coarse my buddy caught it, nice 4lb largemouth. My first decent fish……think was 4-2.This was the big girl………….at least I got to net it!!!!!!!!!!More decent fishAnd lastly here is what happens when I let him run the front of the boat…..I guess these Cats just allow anybody to catch fish. Once again he gave me a lesson. We really had a great time, may have to try the area some Spring. The Couger worked flawlessly other than we could not get out of the hole with both gas tanks full…..may try a 25 Fury….it has a 26 Fury. Maybe I need to lose some weight?!?!?!? Hope you guys like some of these.Bill
Whats not to love about 4 lb smallies?!!! Looks like you had a great trip, and if I recall, some pretty awesome weather too. Great pics!
Like that color
Nice day it looks like!
Nice smallies!!
Macsimus—yeah, no rain but the wind wasnt shy about blowing on 3 of the days. Got to take advantage of the boats great rough water ride. I also finally see the advantage of my 52″ Minn Kota. Some of the main lake structure on those days we felt like a bobber, but the motor stayed in the water much better than my old boat with shorter shaft. Looking forward to meeting up with you on Friday, we will put the boat through the paces with you, maybe even catch some fish!!??!!Highway—I always have to pay homage to you when comments are made. If your nose itches or your ears are burning someone liked my boat colors!!!
Those are some gorgeous smallies. Hope to head up St. Albins this week to take a crack at them. Lots of 3s and a few 4s are being taken but you guys did better then some I know up north on Champlain. Great write up and pictures.

Great write up and pictures.Hate to admit this but we tried a guide the first day, mostly showed us some gps spots, and I wanted to have him show us any hazards or dangerous areas on the lake since it was our first time….did not want to leave my lower unit up there, or scratch the kitty!!!! Almost impossible to fish that day due to most of his spots were main lake bars, and wind on that day was 30 to 40mph. Funny thing is we never caught a single fish on the main lake spots, we found them primarily on main lake points. Crankbaited most of them. I thought we would catch the majority on some style of tube, only one small fish came on a tube…go figure.Hope you have good weather Brian, see if you can find a few “Crankensteins”!!!!!!!!! Good luck,Bill

Looking forward to Friday. Since I kind of want to see how the Cougar handles in the rough stuff, I suppose it will be flat calm Friday.
Nice fish……….Nice boat!
