Fishin Trip

My old man and I are trying to plan a week long fishing trip sometime next year, either in the spring or summer. Weve both been around the block up here in Michigan and Canada and want to venture somewhere down south. Anybody got any suggestions as to where and when we should go to catch some of those big ole southern bass?!! Andrew

Lake Guntersville!!!! Shouldnt be to bad to travel to. One of the lakes that is on the top of my lists to go to.

Thats a good one… Dont overlook Kentucky Lake its a great fishery. Or come on down here to Arkansas you have about 5 great lakes in 3-4 hours of each other. Bull Shoals, Northfork, Greers Ferry, Ouachita, and the Arkansas River.

Guntersville in the fall. No doubt that is a good option. Of course we are also considering the distance from Michigan to Guntersville and the temperatures. Texas would be our guess on a LONG trip. It would be hard to beat a swing through Red River pool 5 or 4, then go 1 hour west to Toledo Bend for a day or two, then another hour west to Sam Rayburn for a day or two. Better to do this in spring, not summer. All great fisheries with different types of fishing.

Oucahita around mid April for a good top water bite. Made that trip for many years. Stayed at the Shang Ra La resort. Good Food, Great people, hope they are still around.

I was thinking Lake Fork or possibly Falcon Lake for a good chance at multiple big bass. I live on Toledo Bend Lake and of course love fishing it. Like any lake it can be tough, but there is always a good chance at a big one. Also, from Fork you can venture out and try other lakes. Caddo Lake has big bass in it….Toledo Bend…..Sam Rayburn. Kentucky lake in the spring is the best. Ill be there the last week in april and if it is any thing like last year it will not disappoint. Those fish get up in the bushes and you can catch a boat load of fish.

Not to say there is no other place, I mean If I could not go all the way to the great “Texas Nation”. Guntersville would be my back-up. By all means brother If planning and making a long serious trip go for Falcon or Choke Canyon.
