I think the extension BCB offers is $100 plus shipping. It is strong, carpeted, fits perfect, not wood, and is easy to install. By time you buy plywood, seal it, buy carpet to to match what your have, buy carpet glue, brackets to install, the proper spacers, you have probably almost spent $100. Then figure the time you will spend trying to make it work? Dude, you could be fishing instead. Save up and buy it. If you can wait until December, BCB often offers discounts and free shipping. Or, put out a request to see if there is a used one available for a little less. Its up to you but may I suggest you learn from mistakes us old guys already have made.
