Hello all… I just purchased my first Cat, a 2000 PIII and Im anxious to get to know her well. Id like to extend the front casting deck and Im a bit confused about the Flippin Deck and Flippin Compartment. Can anyone tell me what the difference between the two is? My boat is a single console with an open area in front of the drivers console. I would appreciate any advice you seasoned owners can provide. Thanks!!Last edited by CajunCatIII on November 22nd, 2007, 2:40 am, edited 1 time in total.
I would think you have a choice between just a deck, or a deck with lid to a compartment underneath it. I have a 2001 Pantera Classic with the compartment flipping deck and I love the extra storage it provides me.God Bless, Stephen
The Flipping Deck is an extension covering the area in front of your console and front left of console, extending the deck back to the console. It is not “Dry storage”, but can be used for storing boat cushions, anchors, plastic bags, etc. The Flipping Compartment is basically a fully enclosed, drop in type that is for “Dry storage”. You could put clothes, etc. Hope this helps. Happy Thanksgiving96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
Thanks for the replies… both are big helps. But, I do have one last question. If the flipping deck covers the area in front of the drivers console, does the flipping compartment do the same? Or, with the compartment does that area remain open. I couldnt quite tell from the pictures on the BC site. Thanks again!!!
They both cover the exact same area one just has a lid that access a dry compartment. Here is one that is just a flipping deck with out a compartment: Here is one that is a flipping deck with a compartment (under the door is a sealed dry storage compartment is this part of the deck insert): Last edited by TexCaboCat on November 24th, 2007, 4:15 am, edited 1 time in total.God Bless, Stephen
Cajun,I have the same rig,a 2000 PIII.I have a flippin deck on mine it comes back to the console has a hinged lid over the open space in front of the console,a large lift up storage that is not a dry storage but a good place for a cooler or life jackets or whatever you want to put in there. It is completely enclosed just not a dry storage,it makes the deck on this rig “HUGE” Enjoy your P3! Goin out in mine tomorrow ! I have a picture of it,just not sure how to post it on here.
I have the flippin deck/compartment on my 01 P-III and love it! My fishing partners use it to store their tackle and prefer it over the smaller boxes in the back deck of other boats. The only neg is its a rather high step up/down going from the front deck to the drivers seat area.
BCB, I just received my flippin compartment today, and although I need to take my boat out of storage to install it, Im a little confused. First, and most importantly, since My PIII is a single console, I was under the impression that the deck extension would not only come all the way back to my console, but fill in the open space in front of the drivers console (like the flippin deck does). It doesnt appear it will do that and thats what I wanted most was the entire front end “decked” in. Next, I thought the storage would be dry storage, but the back end of mine is open so it appears I can access my ice chest. I was planning on giving up using the ice chest in favor of the dry storage. Finally, I thought the compartment was lockable, but there is no lock on it. Did I order the wrong thing? The unit is perfect, but Im confused about what I ordered!!! Im not complaining, just confused!!! Help!!!

BCB, I spoke with Bobby today regarding my flippin compartment… KUDOS to Bobby!!! Just as I continue to learn, he, along with everyone else, is a credit to the BCB organization and family. He has offered to help me in any way possible. I appreciate all the help being given to me. I will be a BCB owner for a long, long time!!!
