floor carpet

Need a little advice on replacing carpet in my boat. How is the best way to cut corners on the floor where carpet comes up the sides? Previous owner yanked it out and put cheap carpet on floor only. Also thru away the trim. Got new carpet and trim from Pete now just a little info to make it right. thanks 99 Pantera Classic99 Merc 200hp EFI

Go over to bassboatcentral.com and look at the boat restoration forum. I think they have few good ways to cut the corners.
