mercatp2, Please give your dealer a call to follow up … the sewing grimlins should be pretty darn close? BCB Admin
There is a passel of jackets fixin to go out, so buzz clothing now. BCB
Hope all is safe and you guys have enough heat. Due to the weather, Ill be delaying one week in picking up my new Puma FTD. Ill be there Monday 12/16/2013. More I think about, it its just a safer thing to do. I would hate to ball up my F250 and a new boat, all for being impatient. Guess with age comes wisdom! Dave Sheffield
Have to agree with Hawgwild. I am in the market for a new bass boat. I have looked at some used Puma/Cougars and even posted a question or two for the board. Decided I would wait till February to make the purchase of a new Puma/Cougar. I have looked at a lot of other boats, Skeeter, Ranger, Triton, Champion, Bullet, Legend and one thing stands out when looking at pics, the rod straps on the BassCat boats. It will not be the only deciding factor when I purchase a new boat. I have made several calls to the Regional Marketing/Sales person for Legend and BassCat and was very impressed with the person from BassCat. I have reviewed all manufactures forums (I cannot believe the others do not have a link to the owners forum on their website) and have found what a lot of you know. BassCat does have a very loyal following. Have even called Andy Greenes and will set up a boat ride in the near future, 3 hours away. But, looking at the pictures and seeing the rod straps that look much like my 1993 Stratos is not cool. Just my two cents worth.
Hawgwild & Lumbeejake, If you will look on first page of topics under “anyone install a loc-r-bar” title, I believe you will have your answer to the rod strap ? straight from BassCat. I believe I am correct and the pvc encasing the wiring is what makes this “dicey”. If I am wrong, Im certain I will be corrected and please accecpt my apology. As for the remote oil fill, I have no input. But remember if you do not care for the velcro rod straps you can always order minus these and install the Rogers or other like straps. You will just be minus the “BassCat Pride”!!!!! Red McPeek
The velcro straps that BC uses are the best of the velcro type. These are not the “single fold type” but a double fold, through a buckle. The rods lie flat, the strap goes over and through a buckle, then back over to the velcro. This creates a stronger hold than the cheaper models used by other companies. The “rod buckles” are not offered due to a couple of things, one of which is the pvc enclosed wiring harness located along the top cap. The other issue is that BC is simply not convinced that the buckle will not retract by itself in rough water. There have been several instances where fishermen have lost rods using the retractable straps. You can use the black Rogers style, also , but again they can unbutton as well. 96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
These have both been discussed here numerous times. The oil fill has more connections in the line, with there being now three more sources of leakage from pressure, and also moisture as well. The Mercury oil tanks work on crank case pressure, and the outboard fill can leak that pressure either at the cap, which is a threaded Perko usually, or at the hose connections. That loss in pressure on the oil tank does not feed the upper reservoir. The owner often must frequently refill the engine reservoir and really never knows why on those. The rod straps require a side hole be cut in the deck, and the strap mechanism inserted. We have never been a fan of them for the water intrusion and the strap securing into the knuckle on the deck. These have come loose, though more the issues on the deck structure and moisture. We dont have large flat panels for mounting. BCB
Hawgwild, Here is a pic of my 2010 Pantera IV with retractable rod straps. They can be installed by your dealer. I have been in some major rain storms this summer and have experienced little to no water in my rod lockers with these rod straps. The oil fill will be a non issue soon as everyone will be running the new Yamaha “GAME CHANGER” 4 stroke VMAX. No need for that oil anymore. Flyswatter those look great by the way.
Bama96, Gamechanger is coming soon. Wish it was here six months ago. Flyswatter
Scott takes trades.
You just won a new Nitro. Sell that and the P4. You could be in a PUMA FTD with a “GAME CHANGER” with money to spare.
Sheff, we will let them know in delivery.
Good call I do not think roads are going to get better here in north AR anytime soon,Be safe
They should have major thoroughfares opened up by Monday, side roads are another story.
