I have a 07 Pantera 2, bought in 08. The rubber bow roller has just broke, and now I have no gel coat for about 6″ on the bow. The bow is now showing the fiberglass, as the bow is sitting on the bolt. Can I jack the bow alittle with a jack to replace the roller? Will this damage the bottom of the boat if I use a jack? I dont want to pullthe boat anywhere until this is fixed. Thanks Rich B

You can probably find a bow roller replacement at a marine dealer. Ive bought more than one. Or you can order one from BCB parts and get a quick turnaround if you have the extra time.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

You can jack the hull with no issues, or you can wedge under the bow with your back and lift it enough to replace it.

Once you get the new roller replaced you can repair the damaged area with some keel protector. My roller has worn over the years and damaged the hull in that area so I bought a strip of tape on keel protector from Cabelas. It has been on for a couple of years and hasnt shown any signs of coming off. Works great for me. FWIW, I wish I would have installed it before the damage occurred as a preventative measure.

I know it should probably be an unspoken known thing but make darn sure you put a piece of wood between the jack and the boat. Anything metal against anything plastic doesnt end in a good result. Also pull the jack back to the point of the hull where it flattens out a bit so it will be a little more stable. Judd Lasiter

But Judd, why are you so concerned with the common sense of one of the “Family” >? Most are pretty sharp cookies ya knows! Please do put a pad of some type in there.
