Getting ready to order my new Puma FTD (as soon as I receive the down payment form the gentleman that is buying my 06 Puma)There are 2- 26 gal. tanks one on the portside and one on the starboard side , do they draw down together(like rear tanks in my 06)or seperate? If seperate how does this effect the setup if your running one full and one empty? Hope I love the new Cat as much as my 06, mom said I could get a new one, and we dont want to dissapoint mom now do we Thanks , Don
I would imagine they would draw down together, because that would cause some problems with handling, 26 on one side nothing on the other, at least thats the way i see it!!Pete
All the ones i have had you either drew from one or the other. My 09 was that way, my p3 was that way and my 03 now is that way.
Thats a good question. My PII I have to select right or left. No option for “together” I am with Doug on this one
They draw seperately. If you know how to drive it doesnt affect the handling or the performance. I typically will carry a full tank on one side and less than 10 in the other side.
My little ol 92 Sabre has 2-21gallon tanks and they draw seperately. I have not had any handling problems on my little boat so Im sure you will hardly notice it (if at all) on a Puma FTD.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
Thats interesting because my 06 Puma Wide has a 42 gal main and 2 10 gal either side. But my left/right selector draws from the main or both 10s together. Maybe the previous owner had them plumbed that way. Good though because Im always balanced as far as fuel.
Ive not had a Puma, but I had an 06 CougarFTD, an 09 Baycat and now an 09CougarFTD. All of those had two tanks and all drew fuel separately. I never notice any difference in handling at all, no matter how much fuel was in either tank.
Thanks for the replies, my only concern was when one empty and one full (especiallyif the full tank is on the driver side)it may throw the boat to that side when wot, and Ive always been told to keep the load as balanced as you can to help with any chine walk. My 06 Puma had ten gallon tanks mounted on each side (standard) and they drew down together, was told by the dealer (very reputable dealer) and BCB this was done to help balance the load. Now Phil, Ive owned performace hulls and ran perfomace hull since the eighties I feel I know how to drive a boat (my last boats were Puma , Cougar, and a Bullet powered by 225-250)there is people out there with a lot more seat time than I(got to work sometime)but I feel Im a pretty fair operator. there again was just concerned about boat not being balanced( I think we all realize the importance of keeping our rides balanced as best we can to minimize the chine walk, go to BBC Board there are some very good articles about this)Another question comes to mind , if sitting still with empty on passenger and full on driver/with driver seated does the boat list to this side?

Theres enough floatation in a BCB that the boat wont have much list if any. As far as driving, chinewalk is not a result of an unbalanced load, but the action of the driver allowing the boat to fall off pad which is induced by the engines prop.
