Where do those 8 republicans that glenn beck showed us yesterday that voted for the bill live. I am only 24 yrs old but i have been around the world as a Marine. We Americans have it pretty darn good. What I am waiting for, is for the public to lose their minds. We will most likely see in the near years to come something like we just saw in iran. Just my 2 cents.Last edited by lasabre on June 30th, 2009, 8:12 pm, edited 1 time in total.
AMEN, BROTHER, AND THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE TO YOUR COUNTRY, I TRULY APPRECIATE IT!! SAM-OFG/GAFBAYOU BANDIT
ANd planning on building a home??? How about planning on selling a home? You will have to be forced to dump thousands of dollars into an existing home just to get it “green” enough to sell. I am absolutley PISSED off by this A$$hole adminsistration. Here is qhat is written on building codes on page 225 that got slipped in at the 11th hour of the amendment ” Homebuyers Beware. Trying to save up for a new home? You may have to save up a little longer for your purchase. The Democrats bill would dramatically increase new home costs by mandating Californias expensive new building codes for the entire nation. Immediately upon enactment, the Democrats bill would demand a 30 percent increase in energy efficiency for new construction. A couple of years later, the Democrats bill would require an additional 50 percent improvement. These numbers were chosen with no concern for cost to consumers or feasibility in implementation.Homebuilders Beware. The Democrats bill imposes new mandatory regulations and civil penalties for homebuilders. If your state refuses to accept the stringent and costly California building codes, the federal government may assess penalties. And dont get too comfortable with the new mandatory regulations because the Democrats bill allows for “consensus-based” codes to supplant those outlined in the bill. So, as soon as youve invested your hard-earned money to comply with the bills mandates, the rug could get pulled from underneath you. Translation? Youll pony up more and more money.Home Sellers Beware. Having a hard time selling your home? Heres one more hurdle to jump: all homes sales are conditioned upon an energy audit and a new energy rating assessment and energy labeling program for your home thats outlined in the Democrats bill. And if you thought you could improve your property with a fresh coat of paint and some granite counters? Think again! Now your home will be subjected to a new energy rating assessment and energy labeling program that will penalize you for older windows, original fixtures, and dated appliances. So the Democrats bill would bring down the value of your home!New Lights No Matter the Cost. As early as 2012, the Democrats bill eliminates all existing lighting technology used in many outdoor lighting fleets (parking lots, stadiums, secured facilities like power plants and factories). Just as an example, switching to the mandated technology in the bill will cost one small utility about $30 million in annual revenue. So you now have to comply with the new mandates for new lighting? Hold the phone. It is not clear that a feasible alternative technology is available for every existing lighting application – regardless of cost – which could force some businesses to close. The consequences of Speaker Pelosis national energy tax for families and small businesses are real. It will drive up energy costs, send millions of jobs to countries like China and India, and place an especially heavy burden on rural America”. “CHANGE needs to start happening in 2010 in the next round of elections!!!!”
What if we all just tell the gov. to shove it, and we do what we want to do. Did the bill cover any “punishment” for not complying. Me and my wife just bought a house last month, thank god.
Oh and i worked in the coal fields of WV, Ken, and Va. If we had an alternative to coal which requires putting a human being a thousand feet underground, dont you think we would have been pursuing it. It doesnt exist, other than Nucs. Which we dont have. I cant wait to see how this works out. Almost the entire state of WV that works in coal is laid off or has gone out of buisness, my fishing buddy just got laid off for a year, how about your fired that would help alot more because instead of the crumbs he is getting to survive he could just go ahead and find a new career. Sorry for the rant.
The actions of those in the most recent legislative and electoral activity has done more to awaken America than anything since 911 or Pearl Harbor. There will be change coming, be that one side or the other, the voices are becoming louder and the moves to silence those are coming from previously unheard areas. There will be a change in our political processes as we go forwards. The outcome we do not know, though the process will change. Though we should blame ourselves for placing the country in this position. We voted for any of these individuals locally at some time before. Eventually they become a fixture which can not be replaced easily. One that grows in notoriety and power as their careers aspire to the point where they achieve a National platform. Cut them down locally if you see an issue. Get involved locally no matter your preference you must let your wishes be heard. If you are not involved, then you are a part of the problem. BCB
Please capitalize Marine. Unlike an elected title, you earned it.
What is happening now is a direct result of misinformed, uneducated voters mostly caused by the liberal media not reporting the whole story. Elections have consequences and now we are seeing the results. Liberals want to make this Cap and Trade (TAX) out to be about reducing dependency on foreign oil and creating “green jobs”. In actuality, it will result in increased dependency on foreign oil and cause dramatic job cuts in energy sectors. Many companies will be forced to ship operations to other countries to avoid these taxes. We need to let our elected officials know if they vote on this bill, we will make sure they are gone from office in the next election cycle. As far as coal fired power plants, it is the most cost effective means of producing energy. Natural Gas fired power plants exist and are very efficient, but the fluctuation of NG prices is a big drawback. If they wanted to decrease our dependency on foreign energy sources, lets invest in exploration here in the US, invest in Natural Gas technologies, and start up more Nuclear power plants. This administration only has one thing in mind, total government takeover.
Sorry about the non-capped word. To tell you the truth i dont think about it as being a big deal. Some where in history someone in my family has served in every war, and it was my turn. Sorry gotta go glenns back on.
