Anyone with a BC outthere running a four stroke? If so hows it treating you. What size is it and what Boat do you have? Thanks for any feedback.

Ron Pierce has one at his home on Lake Fork, a 200 Verado on a Pantera Classic. There are a few Verados on the board running around and a Suzuki or two occasionally. Not much on larger Yamaha engines, mostly smaller 150 and lower here.

BCB so what are your plans for the future for models like the Sabre and even the Pantera 4? With a 175 rating on the sabre and only being able to mount the 115 4 stroke do you have to redesign the hull or just re-rate it? Also im thinkin that if a person put a 200 4 stroke on the P4 that it may be a tad slow and lethargic? Besides the Verado have you guys played with the Suzuki 175, the excellent F150 Yammie, or I know last year we all tried to run the F225 Sport Yammie but it broke right away, what are your thoughts with Yamaha and BCB because of the 4 stroke situation, will you see even less Yammie sales or no? We have run a few of the 150 Suzys on Bass Cats and also the 250 SS of course. The engines are fine. We have run the 150 Yamaha and the 225 Sport model you mention. We have also run the 150, 175, 200 (4 and 6 cylinder), 225, 250 and 275 Verado engines all on various BCB product. Plus a couple of Hondas from 130 and 150 to the 225. We have sold product to both Suzuki and Honda for testing purposes. The original 130 Honda was tested on a Sabre hull and an Allison. The horsepower in 2010 will all be relabeled as max HP only. So the Sabres will be 175 and the Pantera Hulls will be 200 max.

A friend of mine is running a Carcal with a 150 Yamaha 4 stroke. This thing is like a sports car. It runs very well…no gps, so not sure of the speed. However, it does make you grab for the handrail. Lift is excellent. Only downside is the backwash, as this much smaller boat isnt made for that heavy engine on the transom. Overall, it seems like it would do fine on a Sabre if you absolutely had to have a 4stroke. He mentioned several times that the deal on the 4 stroke is the only reason he got this engine as opposed to the HPDI Vmax.

The Caracal was not designed to support the heavier weight of a Yamaha Four Stroke. They were built in a time before four stroke engines.

Would definitely agree with that. It performs great…but obviously wasnt built for the extra weight of the 4stroke.

Ever since the Honda and Suzuki engines were in development. The Verado was a definite chagne of course for all. The Cougar FTD went to all of the regional Mercury Dealer meetings with the 250 Verado on it as the chosen boat. BCB

Would it be possible to release the test results for the 4 stroke engines? I am really interested in repowering my 02 Sabre with a 150 Yamaha or possibly a 150/175 Suzuki, but I am a little concerned about the hole shot.
