Ok my front trim buttons shorted out and were trimming my motor up and down they were old and corroded so i ordered new ones the new ones. Im trying to install the new ones and when I plug them in they trim my motor up/down without the button being pressed. When i do press the button the motor stops trimming up/down. Has anyone else had this or have any idea on whats going on???

I will say that the old trim buttons I took out were square on the bottom the ones i got yesterday are round on the bottom

Sounds like your switches are wired incorrectly. I would check that first.

Sounds like you may have reverse locker switches which are open extended and closed when closed.

Im thinking you have bad relays — maybe the switches were bad also. when you have one trimming up (or down) by itself and you hit the “opposite” button, then you feed hot to that relay also, breaking the internal ground in that relay, and it will stop the trim from running. releasing that button allows the relay to make ground and activates the trim motor.JohnJones Trolling Motor Services870 773 3474Motorguide/MinnKota/PowerPole/Lowrance/Humminbird

Disconnect all other trim control switches. One of them may be bad confusing your troubleshooting efforts.
