IF the lines are not weathered now, they should not need replacement. Even way back then those were A1 lines and you should not have an issue. If they are aged, then go ahead. The pickups are usually a polyester stem, with a short rubber bottom end on some. The lower end could go bad, though the poly stems should not. The earlier late 80s and early 90s tanks have a PVC type hose and those could soften. These were moving pickups that laid in the bottom of the tank with a weighted end. We would replace the stem hose and not the pickup with new style on those. The later 90s models have a poly stem with a cut angle taper shaft. They should be fine. BCB
Also most of the engine company fuel lines prior to 2009 are not ethanol resistant, from the engine companies only. Those would depend on if the line is a BCB line or an engine company line. The BCB Lines would only be from the tank switching valve to the engine, or from the pickup direct to the engine. The engine lines start at the tank pickup or the valve. I was planning on replacing from the tank to the switching valve and from the valve to the engine. I believe they are the original. I have checked under the hood and they appear to be ok but I will double check. Mercury 150 EFI. Thanks for the reply guys. Neil.
Been thinking about doing mine also. The local gas station had ethanol free gas but changed recently. I figured I might as well do it before I have problems……besides, its a 19 year old boat that has not had to have very much done to it. If everything you buy these days would last 19-20+ years we would be doing pretty good. I thought about doing it myself but I have some other things I want to get done so one of the shops is going to get mine. Brad, let me know if and when you are going to be making a week day trip to the lake. For the time being grannys arm is still in a cast so we are only taking her to therapy on Mondays and Fridays for her hip. Once the cast is off they will probably go back to 3 days a week and it will be more difficult for me to make it on the water. I wish shed hurry up and heal. hahaJim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
The lines on your boats should be fine as they are A1 ethanol resistant and have been for decades. The engine company lines are the ones to worry about.
Loan Shark, You should be good from the tank to the selector switch. From the switch all the way inside the cowling will need to be changed. SM bass, If your lines are gray with red lettering, CHANGE THEM OUT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Its not a matter of if, but when they start to deteriorate and cause you problems. It is a very cheap and easy swap to the new lines and will save you alot of trouble down the road. Go to Bass Cat parts and buy thier replacement fuel line and get her done.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
Thanks BCBJim, looks like the firdt mid week trip will be Easter. Will let you know as we will have several sacks of south La gold in the truck (mudbugs) would love for you to come visit and make a trip that week. Been playing with some props the last couple of weeks just havent had the time or guts to break the seals on the plate yet. Had the shop look at the motor and said all was fine but been losing some MPH and when i turn the key it seems like the fuel pump runs for 20 seconds or so before it shuts off, so was goiung to replace the lines and see if that helps. Glad yall are progressing with granny. The perch should be on the dock in the next 2-3 weeks and you have an open invite. We can even wheel her down there if she is up to it.b
Should a 07 with probably an 06 Opti need this fuel line changed?
Yes, boat lines are ethanol resistant and have been since long before they had to be. The engine supply line from the valve or pickup may not be. Plus fuel bulbs are not available yet in the ethanol resistant series.
that would be the one. it should be grey

That will be the one from the engine traced to the tank assembly (90 degree on tank is pickup) or the valve. Some engine feed lines are A1 is thru were BCB lines matching your other in boat lines.
I WAS TOLD BY MY ADVISER P.A. AND BY MY DEALER THAT IF THE LINE IS GRAY WITH REDWRITING,IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
The black are fine. BC has been using the black A-1 before most. It is the best. The gray are the ones from the engine manufacturer, and that is the area of concern. It is the gray ones to look for. Should say “epa compliant 2009-2010 ethanol resistant”. Or, if it has red line, like Robin said. http://www.bbcboards.net/zerothread?id= … bulb-firstLast edited by jignpig on May 10th, 2011, 10:31 pm, edited 2 times in total.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
