My 2019 Classic has seen a plethora or annoying fuel system issues, that perhaps someone on here can help me remedy. It has had fuel get into the vent line a few different times, which causes filling issues the next time until the vent hose is taken off and the small amount of fuel is drained out. I thought maybe this was caused by filling the tank until the fuel pump auto shutoff took place, which could have over filled possibly by not shutting off early enough.
Last fill up, i only put about 80% of capacity in there to make sure it did not have a chance to over fill. Currently the tank is less than 1/2 full, and I went to open the gas cap the other day, and a good bit of fuel came rushing out all over the back of the boat.
My question is, being from my understanding that these new systems are positive pressure, should there always be pressure release when you open the gas cap? And secondly, why would there be that much liquid fuel getting into the vent line and spewing out the cap when opened? Does this point to a failed vent valve?
This has been driving me crazy. Unfortunately I do not have the option of taking it to a dealer. Nearest one is 5+ hours away. Looking for things to check in order to correct. Thank you in advance.
