I got my hands on a new 25P Fury 4 (Thanks Rothwell Marine!) and got it out on the water the other day. There was very little to no wind. Both water and air temperatures were 84 degrees. My boat is 2010 PII with an early 2010 200 ProXS which means it is a standard Optimax but with “ProXS” decals. It was just me and all my gear. 2/3 to 1/2 fuel, 10gal kicker tank full and livewells about 2/3 full.1/4 below flush 67.9 mph at 5430 RPMFlush 69.4 mph at 5500 RPM1/4 above flush 68.7 at 54801/2 above flush 68.5 at 5540Holeshot was awesome with all plugs removed. Bow rise was pretty minimal and broke over at 3600-3800 depending on JP settings. It is also quicker with less bow rise than the Fury3. Acceleration was good too. Not quite as good as a Bravo though. Steering torque was very minimal with JP flush. There was come chine walk between 63-66 but settled out past that. The other thing I noticed was that top speed trim was a little higher than with the 25P Fury 3.For comparison, here is what I get with my 25P Fury 3 and a 26P BravoI XS. Back when I ran these two, the air temp was 85 but water temp was 75.25 Fury 3 B&Bd.It has great holeshot and slight blow out as bow comes over. When I am loaded down for a tournament though, it just seems like it stops lifting around 5200RPM. It runs very flat too. Steering torque is minimal with the JP flush.1/4 above flush 67.3 on limiterFlush 68.2 5750 occasionally hitting the limiter with very slight chine walk.1/4 below flush 67.8 at 562026 BRAVO 1 XS with some dings on all blades1/4 above flush 67.5 at 5400 1/2 above 69.1 at 57003/4 above 66.9 at 5600The Fury 4 is a very good prop IMO. In the end, if your Fury 3 or Bravo is working great for you then there is really no reason to change. RH
Been waiting on some true numbers with the fury 4 on a p2. My 13 has a 25 fury 3. Even though it been worked. I truly believe it has some more performance left there. It just needs to be found. Mine runs flats as well. Was hoping the fury 4 might be the answer.maybe not? Dont get me wrong . Probally for the ALL AROUND PERFORMANCE it really close. Wish it lifted a little more. Was your fury for worked or straight from the box?2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
I have a 2016 p2 with a Yamaha sho 200, I hit 73.4 today with a full tank, gear and a passenger. It has a25p shomax prop. I am 3.75 below pad. I know it has more I am still adjusting.i would think you all should be well over 70mph? Does the sho make that much difference?
@redngoo..it is straight out of the box. P2s are capable of high 60s up into the 70s. Mine has never done over 70 with a normal load. I guess I have a slow one.
Himmlerr. My 13 not as fast as alot of the p2,s I read about. I run lighter than most as I crappie fish. And dont carry alot of tackle. My old caracal toted the nose high. My p2 doesnt fly the nose. To me it runs flat. Even though I have seen a touch above 70. I feel there are more there in it. I know the earlier opti max motors were stronger. I was told they were derated. Im not sure? I know a guy that has a 2010 p2 and its a RUNNER for sure! Ive played with my jp height some and thought I was close. Untill awhile back when at midrange the back of the boat was loosing bite. I lowered the motor and stopped that issue but lost on the top side. Guess its a trade off. As stated Im more about All around performance anyway.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
I love my p2 so far. It drives and fishes great. Mine is quick out of the hole and mid range and top end is awesome. With the sho it lifts the nose as far as you want it to go, I cant trim it all the wayup or it starts to chine. That Yamaha will fly the nose high. I usually bring it up on pad and keep trimming in small bumps until I feel it starting to get loose and there is where she performs. I can run 73+mph with a buddy, full tank of gas and all my gear. Wind ,temperature, ect all effects the performance, running in the wind sometimes I am only able to hit 69mph. Ive seen on here guys hitting 77mph with the p2s. Theses boat are performers and I love the way they fish!
My 07 p2 ran consistent 72 , just me, full of fuel and empty livewells, 70 if livewells full with a partner. I found it to be very sensitive to where the weight was in the boat, tried to keep most heavy stuff in the back and the nose would lift good then it would fly. 25 fury 3 blade , 1/4 above flush on plate, 200 optimax.5650 rpm in the summer and on the limiter on the cold days. It did have some loping issues around 62-65 set up like this but learned how to drive around it.
