Do we have any Cat owners using Garmin electronics? I would like to know some of the pros and cons. Thanks again Brandon
If that has the fixed gimbal bracket, then I think the only color sounder/fishfinder that they ever made that would fit it was the 188C, which has been discontinued for a while now. Everything new uses the swivel mount. DekeDeke
Thanks … I suspected that would be the case .
pros–bad to the bone cons–PRICE PRICE PRICEmy wife and I talked about these just the other day. they have crazy cool options and if a person were fishing/winning a few here and there then it would be worth itjust not for us.
Have 93svs on my Jag. Would not have anything else
I have a 93sv and 73dv. I will not own another brand at this point. And now it appears you can get the 93sv with chirp down and side imaging.
Ive had a Garmin 1040xs for about two years now and LOVE IT!!!! When I first hooked it up I left the wiring/transducers for my Lowrance HDS10 hooked up as well to do a “side by side” comparison of down/side imaging. Well, there is no comparison. The Garmin is clearer, brighter, and more detailed. Pros:realiableclear and accurateeasy to operateExcellent customer service, can get a rep on the phone in under a minuteCons:The Garmin maps are good for the lakes they have surveyed, but still missing some key lakesRecently on the new units or old units if you do an update, it blocks Navionics chips from workingIm so happy with my Garmin I wouldnt consider another brand right now. Also, the Panoptix looks cool and they just introduced a new “more affordable” transducer this week for $999
From one of the board sponsors and electronics geek over on BBC. Of course, this is opinion only#7 11-04-2015, 07:02 AM went from an 1198 to a garmin 7612 and it was a major upgrade. they all have pluses and minuses so you have to decide whats best for you- side imaging – garmin is even with humminbird with garmin having much better range. lowrance is not even in the conversation. the 3d structure scan may or may not catch them up- down imaging – onix is the best, lowrance second and garmin is about the same as the humminbird core series or the new helix- mapping depends totally on where you fish and what coverage is offered. if your lakes are covered by garmin in HD or by lakemaster then navioinics cant compete. the only thing navionics has going for it it sheer number of lakes covered- 2d – garmin chirp hands down. lowrance second, humminbird last- extra functionality/connectivity – garmin, lowrance, humminbird- forward/360 – for the way we fish here panoptix is the clear winner, humminbird 360 would be my choice if we fished shallow, lowrance failed- customer service – id rather have crappy customer service thats never needed personally. I havent had a single issue with the 7612 but have been in contact with garmin cs with tons of questions. they have been great. humminbird also has great cs, but chances are you may need it for an issue. lowrances issues are well documentedi cant speak for raymarineif you have any questions or need something, pm me
I have two 93SVs and one 73SV.Exceptional units in regards to ease of use, and clarity.I will only list cons because they are great units except for the following: Mapping – If Garmin hasnt mapped the lake, you are SOL. The lakes they have mapped are great. Cant use Navionics cards. This is the #1 problem with Garmin. Networking – Cant run to transducers on one unit (for the above listed models). I had to purchase the 73SV just to use it with a shoot thru hull transducer just to obtain a bottom reading while on plane. Wasnt a deal breaker for me because I have a neighbor that works for Garmin and I got all 3 units for less than $2000.
Garmin now has the Y cable to run 2 transducers with the 93svs. Works great
Ok can anybody give me any recommendation with what units I should dress my P2 out with? I have a 08 P2 (console and bow units)
