Gas In Bildge

I went to check batteries and found about a pint of gas in the bilge. Cleaned it out and checked the lines that I could see and found no leeks. Checked the next morning and it is dry as bone. Could this have happened when I filled it up be for storing it. I have in the past over filled it an never found any gas in the bilge. Any thoughts on where it could have come form.

It depends on if there is a place the fuel can enter your bilge area. There are some grommets that have been inserted in the splash wells on some boats that allow this to happen. Otherwise we would be extremely concerned on any fuel being in the bilge. What year model is this rig?

It is an 08 P II bought new in March of 09

One thing you might want to check before you head to the dealer would be your fuel level. IF your fuel tanks were filled to the top during cold weather, fuel expansion during the recent warming trend may have resulted in some spilling out. Ive lost a little out of my tank that way before. Crummy way to use gas, but it happens.

Though it should not be in the bilge area unless there is a port it can travel through and that is our concern.

I would not turn anything on or plug in the charger before you get it diagnosed. Any little spark and kaboom. Be careful!

It does concern us as to the origin and safety of a potential issue, thus we are preferring to have a dealership check it out. Bama96 is accurate in his cautions on the use of electricity if a problem exists.

I talked to Pete Yesterday about the problem and he told me they could get me in next week to check it out. I all ways keep the lid open about three inches when stored and that my have prevented a big problem.

On my second cougar I had same problem, BCB found a small leak in one of my tanks and took care of the problem.BAYOU BANDIT
