Gas Tank Vent Question 2006 Puma

Thermal expansion is really very limited, though a real number. If the vent is moving and the road is sloshing fuel you should have no major issues. If the tanks is brim full, then it could be a problem. The largest issue with thermal expansion is from fumes and they grow exponentially in comparison to fuel. The fumes gas and expand under heat and that is what forces fuel out. The constant movement is what will keep that from being an issue if the boat is traveling. It will increase expansion, though reduce trapping of fuel in the vent lines that allows that thermal expansion to press fuel out like it does sitting on a hot parking area. BCB

Select main tank, disconnect fuel line from motor, squeeze primer ball (alot).

Love To Fish wrote: Getting ready for a 10 day trip. Filled both back gas tanks and left about 1 inch for expansion. On the seat tank I did not want to overfill but did just that. Tried to get a hose down to siphon out some gas but that did not work. Now I am afraid the gas will expand and it has to go somewhere.I see the vent for the back tanks. Is that also tied to the seat tank?I will be traveling in 80 degree temps for about 7 hours and with my cover being black it really gets hot under it.Would like to get about a gallon out of the tank.
