What is the latest on getting your boat repaired? Anymore info on what might have been the cause?
gchagler has water jacketing from a previous impact and his rig is probably going to wind up in Mountain Home. We are not involved in the situation, though he has been working through Service on the matter and this was their information.BCB Admin.
Bamaflyer, it hopefully will be headed to Bass Cat later this week. It started from an impact on the stringer between the 1st and 2nd rib on the bottom of the hull at sometime prior to the water jacketing. I made a 115 to 120 mile run on a pretty good chop and had to run with the nose down some of the way and it had kind of a pressure washer affect on the hull. Ill post some picks if BCB doesnt have any objections. Ill wait untill they comment.
BCB posted while I was typing.
gchagler, we will have to get a confirmation on that and let you know. Above our pay grade!

Here are pictures of Haglers Pantera II and the front damage before the water jacketing behind it. Be sure you tend to those little impacts as a 70 MPH water blasting will put a hurt on the fiberglass without the gelcoat. Please note the last two images are not a Bass Cat, though a major competitive brand and we have more which look very similar from other brands. BCB This one in right behind the impact area. And this one follows that areaHere is a picture we saved from another brand of boat with a similar issue, and this was from a fiberglass shop in another state who was describing water jacketing. We found it as an excellent opportunity to preserve the images for training. BCB See pics below… Looks familiar! Last edited by Bass Cat Boats on April 20th, 2011, 4:01 am, edited 2 times in total.
Ouch!
Hey Ward,,,,,,That would take alot of Marine-Tex !Not to make light of the situation Chris, thats some gouge, and Ward or I always try to repair any small “chip” in our hulls when they happen. Marine Tex is cheap, and also remember to be real careful when beaching and look for rocks guys ! I hope you get back on the water soon, but that one would definately go to Midway. If you need a fishing fix come on to L.R., we will take you !I gotta go hug my boat !
OMG, so thats from a Small Chip from beaching? That Sux, I remember My bosses 2008 had some chips from touching Stumps, That really will make me tell my customers to watch their Bottoms……Just imagine a Ally,Stroker or Fast Ranger, ha,ha,ha
Ouch is right. Good call sending it home to get it fixed right.
Gonna have to check out that Marine-Tex. Thanks for the offer DB but actually I have been doing some fishing out of an aluminum rig with a mud motor and having a blast getting into some places that I would never even think about getting into in a glass boat. Looks like Im gonna have to borrow my father-in-laws Sprint:( to fish a tourney next weekend.Whats really gonna suck is if I win it and cant claim any Quest money.Brannon, it wasnt from beaching, but Im not sure what I hit probably a stump at one time or another. You can bet that Ill be checking my bottom from now on!!
Marine Tex…….man I used that stuff on several spots(27) on my Eyra when I first got it. I bought the boat after getting it checked out engine wise, then forced myself to keep it at home while I did some minor repairs/replacements. I started with the Marine Tex about 3 weeks from the last time it touched water, trying to make sure I could get it as dry as possible. Chris, None of us can imagine the relating trauma surrounding this situation. Im sans a motor right now but have some promising leads. As soon as I get it and get three hours on my boat Ill be contacting you for fish and meet at Aliceville Lake. Count on it.Tom
