Gel Coat Crack

I have a spot on the passenger side of the boat maybe four inches in front of the gas tank fill (2005 P4) that looks like something fell against it and the previous owner patched it. Its started to crack I dont like the looks of it. I was planning on flying back to see the folks in Norfolk around the middle of Sept. but now want to pull the boat and get this thing fixed. We do not have any one here that does this kind of work. If BCB could steer me the right direction on this it would be great. Also any openings left in that GAF GIG. While Im in the area thought what the heck thats only about 500 miles out of my way and the wife (great wife) gave me a hall pass and said you need to hit the road with your boat boy. krugcat, Send Service a digital image of the area and they can assess it fairly well without the pull to MH. Odds are if it is cracking from a patched area, that the gel coat is impact fractured and may not a major issue. Though they would gie is a browse and see. Gel Coat fractures are a possibility on any boat, though something usually causes them as you know.

Thanks BCB. It is a small crack that has developed and is in the spot (about the size of a quarter) that looks like it was repaired. It appears to be contained to the repaired spot and not spreading outside. I could live with it the rest of this season and see what the OI dates are next year if it gets worse. Ill get some pics today and try and post or send them someway. Sure would be sweet to have the boat there to play with. Thanks

Thanks Judd, I am looking at that. Figured up I have 3 1/2 weeks vacation time left I have to use or lose so might be a good fit. Im going to get all the wheel bearings gone through next week to be ready. This has possibilities for sure. Rob

We should catch some fish on the river and I can promise a good time with good people and great eats! If you have that much vacation you would be just under an hour from Toledo Bend and just a little further to Big Sam if you get bit by that bug. I hope to meet you there. JL

No sweat! That looks like the edge of the patch. It would not be a concern to us. It could be repaired though for some it would not be worth that cost. You obviously keep your boat very clean!

Thanks Joey and BCB. Ill take your advise. As far as the shine on the boat goes, got some Bass boat saver and have to say that stuff really works. Thanks Rob
