Getting to/removing anchor/mooring light bases…

I picked up an anchor light that mounts to my Power Pole and Id like to wire it into the pre-existing wiring at the stern, but the light ports appear to be riveted in place? Or am I missing something? I am not so sure I would remove the current mount. How about attaching wires in parallel to the existing light wires from below the deck and running new wires through the transom area and up the power pole.

I put one on my Talon. I ran the wire down and inside the boat using the hole for the other cables on the back of the boat. Hard wired it then to the wires on the boat socket. I have both now if needed.

Somata it is easy to simply drill out the head of the rivets and punch the rivet out of the hole into the bilge. After you connect the wiring, then you simply re-install the light socket with the same size rivet. I would suggest tightening the spring on the socket while you have it out. It is simple to do.Everyone should believe in something. I believe Ill just go fishing!

The rivets are Avdel and hard to find. Normal aluminum rivets will not hold up.

Thanks for the info…though Im not sure where it leaves me…lol! Im not taking the socket out permanently, just wanted to remove it to making splicing the light in easier. Because while the Sabre FTD has many wonderful qualities, access to work in the bilge is not one of them. Not sure I can reach in and have enough dexterity to connect it in place. Drill, punch out and replace… though use the right rivet.

Yes, you can order new rivets from the parts department. I ordered rivets when I bought new mounts for my lights. I used a standard hand held Arrow rivet gun I picked up at Ace Hardware or Homedepot.
