In 1953, when I was 5 years old, living in Jackson TN, my dad bought me a 5 glass rod with a Johnson spinning reel. (push-button, green body, you might have seen one like it…) I fished with it until we moved from TN to South Mississippi where it was misplaced. Somewhere back in the 80s the reel surfaced as my mother was cleaning things up, and it was pretty well non-functional. On a whim, I mailed it to Johnson reels, asking them to repair it at my expense, to keep as a momento. 3-4 weeks later, a brand new Johnson spinning reel showed up in the mail, no charge. Of course these were not $100+ reels like my team diawas, but I was still surprised… The thing was only 30+ years out of warranty. 2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
