Now is a great time to get things ready for the upcoming season, both your boat and tackle. Here are a few things to do to get geared up for the chance to fish when the weather cooperates. Inflate trailer tires to proper pressures. If necessary, repack trailer axle bearings. Lubricate hitch components, and fill brake fluid resevior, check lights, connections, and lubricate with white lithium grease or vaseline. Lube boat tie downs. Grease steering/engine fittings. Charge batteries and clean/lubricate connections with vaseline. Fill oil tank. Clean boat, carpet, and bilge. Remove excess water with a wet-vac, and elevate bow so boat will drain completely. ORGANIZE TACKLE ! Respool reels with fresh line, and get a few rods ready for next anticipated trip. Clean and lube reels ! Check inflatable PFDs for recharge dates and do so before time expires. Clean PFDs and rods/handles(if your as anal as P.A.) Remove both engine prop, and trolling mtr. prop and check for line, etc, lube and reinstall or replace(fix) if damaged. Tune engine, replace fuel filter, water pump, etc,,,,,,(annual maintenance items) Lube lock mechanisms on lids.(silicone works well) Clean livewells of debris. Check bow strap & rollers for wear. Replace batteries in flashlites and weather radios you may carry onboard. Vacuum carpet and wash/wipe down exterior of boat and wax. And if you store much gas in your boat use a fuel stabilizer.
