got a 2000 cougar w/ a 250 pro xb how fast will it run oh and people say the 250 xb is runnnin around 280 hp hat true

I cant tell you how fast it will push you cat but I had a 250 pro xb on a Bullet the prev. owner said it would run in upper 80s maybe low 90s I never managed to get out of the 70s The Bullet is a faster boat BUT HANG ON YOU HAVE TO DRIVE IT AND THE CATS YOU DONT, DIFFERANCE BETWEEN A DUNE BUGGY AND A CADDY!! OOPPS ALSO BETTER HAVE PLENTY OF GAS XBS LOVE IT GOOD LUCK

The XB was a beast….and an EFI so it was also very thirsty for gas at wide open throttle. Definitely a drivers boat, the standard Cougar was a lighter boat than the Jaguar of that time.Dont worry about how fast it will go now as it sounds like you just got it recently. That animal will take a lot of seat time to get maximum performance, in other words, do not drive past your capability, expect a learning curve and take your time.When all is said and done, if the boat/engine are in great shape, AND if you have developed the driving skill on that type of boat, then you should possibly see ……..well, you will be surprised at how many gas stations you visit and how often.Mid range operation will help with fuel usage as well.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner

My buddy had an 2003 Cougar FTD with the XB. It is a beast. If you can drive it (chine walks) itll hit 84GPS with two people and a light tourny load. Scared the crap out of me to go that fast! My buddy is a good driver and was working the steering wheel keeping the boat level but it was still hair raising. I had white knuckles from grabbing on the hand rails. I looked over at his GPS and it was reading 84 MPH! No sure if it was WOT but Im guessing it was pretty close. He was running a stock Tempest (no prop mods) and standard manual jackplate.

The one I owned would GPS 80 to 84 depending on load, temp, and water condition.

Its only money! Tomorrow youll make more and going fast is the best fun money can buy. I have an 02 cougar w/a 250 yamaha and its fast. I can only imagine how fast the xb is. Have fun bro.

I had an 01 with an xb on the back, it ran 83.2 gps consistently. 2 people still pushed 80-81. Definitely had to drive her though. no letting go of that wheel. Still wish I had it now. Boat was AWESOME!!!!!
