I have a 98 P2 also and I found “spare” positive and negative hook ups under the dash where I attached my power cord. I also used the fuse that came with my unit just for more protection. This also put my unit on the master switch.I hope this helps.GeorgeGeorge

There should be a loose wire to tap at the courtesy light. Just look on the back side of the console should reveal these behind that courtesy light.
