Weve been slayin the bigguns at Lake Fork over the last 2 weekends. Last weekend I had 6 on Saturday between 4.5 lb and 7.1 lbs, and 3 on Sunday between 2.6 lbs and 6.6 lbs.. Yesterday I had 6 more, all between 2.6 (dink) and 5.0, (my buddy had a 5.5 and a 6.5), and this morning I got a 3.5 and a 10.0 lb!! The fish came in about 4 of water on red Rattle Traps. I had a guy come up behind me in a 94 Pantera II yesterday and all he could say was.. … I wish I had a new one, referring to my 07 Cougar FTD. If you are still at the lake and have your computer and read this – send me a message and Ill send you in the right direction. The folks at Lake Fork Marina told me that the guides were having a tough time yesterday… I dont know where they are taking folks.. but I cant say that Ive caught so many healthy, pre-spawn fish this early in the year in such shallow water since Ive been fishing there (about 7 years now)…. The weathers been great, close to 70 in the afternoons… I think were going to have some great spring action here in east Texas… if anyone is planning a trip.. send me a note and Ill let you know if Ill be out there… tc Last edited by tcTX on February 11th, 2008, 1:40 am, edited 1 time in total.

Great looking fish and I send you a private message, too.God Bless, Stephen
Nice FEESH!!!! Congrats!!!! I have been fishing the Red Eye Shads this spring with quite a bit of sucess and that bite will only improve until those fish hit the beds. I would love a 10lber on 2/23 for our fall tournament trail championship. I cant wait…I have to get thru Ignition on Cedar Creek next weekend before I can start thinking about it. Hopefully, I will get out there this next weekend though. If you see a red and silver 08 FTD w/ a 250 Merc stop and say hi, I normally launch at the Minnow Bucket and fish the west arm. Judd Lasiter
Thanks guys…. Judd… why are you launching at the Minnow Bucket when you are fishing the west arm? I wish I had your fuel money!! That can be a long ride back if the wind is wrong… Keep an eye out for my pewter/blue one. If you see it in my boathouse.. blast your horn and Ill come down… tc
The guys at the MB have always been good to me and I used to fish the east arm a lot more than I do now. I stay south of the two bridges most of the time anyway so it dont really matter where I launch. Besides, when you have a FTD w/ a 250 you dont mind getting to drive a little Will do… JL
dang TC……you have gotten old ! Or maybe we have all aged? What do i know I get to see my ugly mug in the mirror most mornings. Glad the bite is good for you…..long time, no see. when you get a chance….shoot me your digits, we can stay in touch. GGG PS, nice fish dude!
TC, I am going the 2nd week of may (week of the 13th) to either Fork of Amistad. Im still a little unsure of where because everyone is freaking me out over the stumps at Fork. The thing is that Fork is a little over 11 hours from me and Amistad is 20 hours from me! I will probably go to Fork! sgt93@hotmail.com
Dont worry about the stumps on Fork. As long as you use your head you wont have any problem. When are you coming? If I am out there I could get you a couple of trails marked on your GPS. The biggest thing is if you arent on a main lake boat trail you need to be idling or realize the risk you are taking. There are a couple of areas that I am running right now that if we loose a foot of water I wont run. You just have to use your head and if you are paranoid about the stumps that is a good thing you probably wont tear anything up. You are going to roll over some but if you idle it isnt a big deal. Let me know when you are coming and I will do what I can to help. Typically May is a good month for numbers, big fish are typically recovering from the spawn. You need to come in the next 6 weeks if you are looking for a toad. Same thing with Amistad really… Wait till you see what the Elite guys do at Falcon…it is going to blow your mind I have a feeling. Not sure I really want the whole country seeing what Falcon is about but it is a long way from anywhere so it might be fine JL
As basschaser mentioned, dont worry too much about the stumps, just run in the boat lanes. Anywhere else be sure to idle. I just started fishing Fork a few months ago, but have not had any problems. I do see a lot of guys running in unmarked areas that I will just idle through. I figure they know right where the creek channels or open areas are. I am finding Fork a hard lake to fish. Ill go one trip and do decent and then not catch anything the next couple. Reading what the reports indicate usually get me nowhere. I find I usually do better if I fish what I think instead of what the reports say and more or less go against the grain. The fish in that lake get a lot of pressure compared to others, so I think by they time word gets around, it is time to change. It can be a tough lake to fish particularly when you dont fish it real regular. Probably the biggest reason I go back is it just has a fishy feel to it and you always have the chance at one of those monsters on any cast. I also cant stand not doing well everytime and I want to learn the lake and improve on it. I dont know what everyone else is thinking, but I imagine the spawn will be a little early this year, as it has been a somewhat mild winter and Easter will be early this year.
