Friday, my 13 year old daughter and I headed to Alabama and stayed with some good friends at their lakehouse on Lake Wedowee. I woke up early Saturday morning…couldnt sleep for two reasons. 1. My son had called Friday night from Buggs Island Va. and was leading the co-angler side for the BASS Weekend Series Regional 2. We were headed to Pickwick to pick up Kevin Shorts Cougar. I think I was more excited about my son leading the tournament. If you have kids that compete in sports I think you know the feeling. We met Kevin and Carey and he took us for a ride in the boat and went over all the details of an amazing boat…WOW! We worked out all the sale details and got some good pictures. My daughter has been a fan of his for a while..she likes the “pink” boat. Kevin really made Landens day when we were about to leave and he gave her one of his tournament shirts. She wore it all day Saturday and Sunday. So, we are hanging around McFarland Park at the PAA event going on and seeing some friends and I am on pins and needles because Brad called from Va. and has 3 solid keepers and he is waiting to report the details on final results. A little alter he calls and he won the co-angler side by 4+ pounds!!!! The high school senior is running with the big boys! We made it back to Hartwell Sunday morning and Brad is at the house in the driveway waiting to see the new Kitty Cat. We take off to the boat ramp for a ride and all he can say the rest of the day is “Man, that boat is awesome”! That was in between answering his cell phone where people were calling him to congratulate him on his win. He was out of school Monday so I took a vacation day and we went on a maiden voyage in the Cougar to Lake Lanier and we had a blast catching some big spots, largemouths, and stripers on topwater. Now all I need to do is work it out with his principal so he can be out of school a few days for the Weekend Series Nationals on Lake Norman NC. BR How do I post pictures?
