Im thinking of taking a vacation to Fairfield Bay in early spring. Havent fished there since mid 1980s. Fishing was good years ago. Whats the fishing like that time of year? LOZman

its has been a few yrs for me but my best areas were peter creek, the narrow area between point 2 and heber marina, also the creek at point 5 and shiloh. the spring tournaments usually weigh a 10 lbr., anyhow the water is up in the bushes, makes for good sight fishing. I used to stay at http://www.colonialinnhebersprings.com/rates.htm nice place. LCs barbq for dinner!!! good diner on main for breakfsat. If you are camping all the sites are nice!!! C.O.E. all over the lake DAM site and Heber are the most convieneant.sorry for typos!!! bring bubblegum flukes, tubes.if you dont see any in shallows flip the edges of the flooded bushes or carolina rig parralel with the edges . crawdad wigglewarts work and clown jerkbait .Good luck, have fun and some BBQ for me!!!

Early Spring can be good there, though the revival from high water in 2008 is unknown. The spawn was good and the bounce from all the nutrients and forage base will be unknown after last years high water. Fishing is pretty good there on many days now.

I hope the high water didnt hurt it to bad. that is my favorite lake, havnt had the chance to get back there , moved to ohio!!! why ?? dont know!!!

Thanks, Folks I was looking for a place to play a little golf as well as fish. Is Fairfield Bay resort in good shape? LOZman

The course at FFB are in good shape almost all the time. It is a fun course to play. On the other end of the scale,(upper) you also have Red apple and Tannenbaum courses to play. Good luck and enjoy.; pant 2 Bob

I fish and play golf also. I get to Greers Ferry 2 or 3 times a year. If you are going to stay at Fairfield Bay your best bet is to rent a condo inside of Fairfied Bay. They are usually very reasonable. No motels inside of the Bay area. There are two golf courses inside of Fairfield Bay. One is Mountain Ranch and the other is Indian Hills. I would recommend them both but I would give Mountain Ranch a little better rating. A great restaurant near Fairfield Bay is Jansens. Broad menu and wonderful food. The lake at normal pool doesnt have much brush or grass. Main structure is rock and trees. In the Spring though if the lake is up a little the brush will be the place to be as mentioned earlier. Keep an eye out for schooling fish. Could be hybrids, Kentuckies, or Largemouth. Fun no matter which species they are. Beautiful place to be in the Springtime. Enjoy! 2Sport

greers is good about 2 week out of the year… we call it the dead sea here..lol
