HDS 10 with Structure Scan Question

Just got a 2007 Puma with HDS 10 with Stucture Scan. The cable from the tranducer on the backto the Scan box under the dash is just running over my back deck to the box.How do you snake that cable down the inside of the drivers side gunnel? The last ownertried several times to go through the back air intake but got hung up 2/3s through. Any suggestions?

Thats what happened to me, I couldnt get it past the throttle. I paid a local shop $100 to run it, another line and glue in a 2d transducer, I figured Id break more than $100 worth of stuff if I kept trying. It was money well spent for me, I can shoe a horse or “assist” a criminal with a flashlight, but thats the extent of my mechanical skills. Mike, Watch that in AR. It is our understanding that use of a flash light as an obstacle of force is against the rights of the violators, unless used in self defense. Really a good friend of ours (AR State Police) used one years ago as a throwing device and that was a major issue. Seems the youngster was pulling away from him on foot and a Mag Light with D cells did the trick, though was rather seen as an unreasonable use of force at the time. What a world we live in?

I agree, the world has moved on. I had a man trying to kill my partner with a .357, I whomped him using what I had available till he desisted in his efforts. I wear a tie now and work inside so hopefully I wont meet anyone soon that needs to be desisted. Mike

A very pliable fish tape worked for me. Theyre available in most hardware stores in the electrical dept. Also, be sure to tag a draw string to it, as it makes the next pull much easier.And Mike, if youre ever looking for a change of scenery, apply at Garland TX PD. The evil doers here have a complete understanding of ill advised actions. And more importantly, so does command staff, and the City Council. PD in Garland are very polite, professional, and respectful of those that deserve it.

Thanks guys. Ill give the fish tape a try. Here in NC you can shoot em trying to break into your home, but once inside, they have to be threatening your lifebefore you can shoot. Glad I have an old huntin knife I dont want anymore.

You will get hung up, dont force it, just turn the wire and keep trying. On my PIV this weekend, after removing the rear vent, I was able to fish it through. Word of advice, I ran two extra cables and tied them up in-case I add something else (ie power pole). It was easier coming from the rear of the boat (that doesnt sound good) than going from the console.JP

Once you get the fish tape thru make sure you pull in a string , extra wire of odd color or something. When you get ready to add your next item the hard work in done. When I pull something in, a new string goes with it. I tie each end off.Eric

What a world we live in?You ever heard a Border Patrol Agent refer to a TONK? Through some good friends of mine it apparently is the same sound one of those maglights makes when it is abruptly stopped in full swing. I will let you fill in the rest.- Chaz
