HDS-7 wiring

Ive got a 2007 Puma with a HDS-7 on the front.It cuts out intermittently during a day of fishing.Just wondering where is this unit typically connected to the power? Want to check connections and am considering hard wiring to the battery.Has anyone had the same issue?

I hard wired mine direct to battery. Problem solved and i now have more volts at bow than at console.
